The Role:

The Engineering Department's employees are the keepers of maintaining the hotel. You are responsible for repairing and maintaining the hotel's physical structure in accordance with Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge's standards for quality, cleanliness, guest satisfaction, safety and of course acknowledging guests with a smile and an "I can make it happen attitude".

We are seeking a Maintenance Supervisor with building maintenance experience and a solid understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general repairs, along with proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Job Duties:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the primary responsibilities are:

  • Assist in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the buildings, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems.
  • Supervise and direct maintenance employees within the engineering division who support daily building operations and maintenance activities.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing execution of a comprehensive preventative maintenance program.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and records of all equipment and systems.
  • Ensure assigned tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards in a fast-paced hotel environment.
  • Assist in maintaining buildings to the highest standards through proper use of approved, qualified, and quality-oriented suppliers and contractors.
  • Identify maintenance priorities and communicate operational needs and improvement opportunities to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of maintenance team members.
  • Assist with scheduling, timekeeping, daily labor tracking, purchase orders, and operational reporting as required.
  • Ensure compliance with disciplinary procedures and documentation in accordance with Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs), in coordination with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Act as a point of contact for maintenance operations during assigned shifts and provide leadership coverage as required.
  • Be available for on-call support as scheduled or directed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance planning, service contract monitoring, and coordination of vendor work.
  • Maintain a hands-on, lead-by-example approach, actively participating in daily maintenance tasks and special projects as required.

Employment Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience working in building maintenance or engineering, with some experience leading or assisting others.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs.
  • Post-secondary education or trade training is an asset but not required.
  • Power Engineer certification (4th or 5th Class) is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Some experience or understanding of preventative maintenance, workplace safety, and fire and life safety systems.
  • Good communication and people skills, with the ability to work well with a team.
  • Must be reliable, organized, and able to take direction from the Maintenance Manager.
  • Willingness to learn, train, and help develop other team members.
  • Basic computer skills (email, work orders, simple reports).

 Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods throughout the property, including guest areas, mechanical rooms, outdoor areas, and service corridors.
  • Occasional climbing of stairs, ladders, or step stools to access equipment, fixtures, or storage areas.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry items up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
  • Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, including overhead reaching.
