Job description

  • Location: Dimondale, MI
    Position Type: Full-Time
    Compensation: $18–$22 per hour

Outdoor Equipment Co. is a family-owned, Michigan-grown business known for delivering high-quality outdoor equipment and outstanding customer service. We offer a broad selection of zero-turn mowers, tractors, motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides, boats, jet skis, and more. As our company continues to expand, we are looking for a motivated team member who enjoys helping customers get the most out of their outdoor experience.

We are currently seeking a Service Writer and parts consultant who will serve as the primary point of contact between our customers and our service department. In this role, you will assist customers in identifying necessary parts and service needs, provide expert support with troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensure work orders are efficiently managed from start to finish. This includes writing repair orders, coordinating technician workloads, scheduling service appointments and deliveries, and maintaining communication throughout the repair process to ensure customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for organizing and maintaining detailed service records, warranty claims, and product information, while also helping customers understand equipment maintenance and repair recommendations.

Success in this position requires strong knowledge of outdoor power equipment-including lawn mowers, chainsaws, generators, and similar machinery-along with excellent communication and organizational skills. You must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with technicians, and using computer systems and parts lookup software to keep workflow accurate and efficient. Prior experience in parts consulting, service writing, or a related mechanical support role is preferred, and familiarity with Lightspeed EVO is a bonus. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while technical training or certifications are considered an advantage.

At Outdoor Equipment Co., you'll enjoy competitive benefits including 401(k) participation, health, dental, and vision insurance, employee product discounts, and opportunities for career growth within a supportive, team-focused environment.

If you're passionate about helping customers and thrive in a hands-on, customer-service-driven role, we'd love to meet you.
