Boater's World Marine Centers is seeking an experienced Outboard Marine Technician to join our growing Service Department in Islamorada, FL.


We're looking for a technician with a minimum of 3โ€“5+ years of marine dealership experience who can confidently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair today's leading outboard engines. This position is best suited for someone who enjoys solving complex mechanical and electrical issues, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can work independently while supporting a high-performing service team.

What You'll Do

Service & Maintenance
  • Perform scheduled maintenance including oil changes, inspections, tune-ups, and preventative service
  • Diagnose and repair outboard engines and marine systems
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical concerns
  • Complete repairs according to manufacturer specifications and dealership standards
Rigging & Repair
  • Assist with outboard installations, rigging, and component replacement
  • Install marine accessories, steering components, controls, batteries, and basic electronics
  • Support senior technicians with more advanced diagnostics and repair work
  • Maintain productivity while delivering quality workmanship
Documentation & Shop Operations
  • Document repairs, labor operations, and recommendations within Lightspeed
  • Track parts usage and maintain accurate repair documentation
  • Follow dealership procedures for repair orders and warranty processes
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Team Support
  • Communicate effectively with Service Advisors regarding repair progress
  • Assist with staging, launching, testing, and preparing boats for customer delivery
  • Support overall shop workflow and help maintain an efficient service department
Requirements:
  • 3โ€“5+ years of marine technician experience required
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting experience with outboard engines
  • Ability to independently diagnose mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, steering, and performance-related issues
  • Experience servicing and repairing Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Honda outboards
  • Manufacturer certifications strongly preferred
  • Experience performing rigging, repowers, and accessory installations
  • Comfortable using diagnostic software, service manuals, and manufacturer troubleshooting procedures
  • Strong understanding of 12V electrical systems and marine electronics
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately document repairs and recommendations
  • Productive, dependable, and capable of managing repairs with minimal supervision
  • Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Valid driver's license required
