Outbound Sales Associate information

What is an outbound sales associate?

Outbound Sales Associates are professionals responsible for initiating contact with potential customers, typically by phone, email, or other communication channels, to promote and sell a company's products or services. Unlike inbound sales, which respond to customer inquiries, outbound sales associates proactively reach out to generate leads and close sales. Their duties often include identifying prospects, making cold calls, following up on leads, and maintaining detailed records of customer interactions. Strong communication and persuasion skills are essential for success in this role.

What is the difference between Outbound Sales Associate vs Inside Sales Representative?

AspectOutbound Sales AssociateInside Sales Representative
Primary FocusProactively reaching out to potential clientsManaging inbound inquiries and follow-ups
Work EnvironmentTypically telephonic or digital outreach, often remoteOffice-based or remote, handling inbound leads
Required SkillsStrong communication, cold calling, persuasionCustomer service, relationship building, product knowledge
Common UsageSales prospecting and lead generationClosing sales from inbound leads and account management

While both roles involve sales activities, Outbound Sales Associates focus on proactively reaching out to potential clients through calls or emails, whereas Inside Sales Representatives primarily handle inbound inquiries and nurture existing leads. Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right career path or job search focus.

What are some common challenges faced by outbound sales associates and how can they be overcome?

Outbound Sales Associates often encounter challenges such as handling rejection, reaching decision-makers, and maintaining motivation during cold-calling campaigns. To overcome these, it's important to develop resilience, actively seek feedback, and continually refine your sales pitch. Collaborating with team members to share successful strategies and participating in regular training sessions can also help improve performance and confidence. Building a supportive environment and celebrating small wins can make the role more rewarding and sustainable.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an outbound sales associate?

To thrive as an Outbound Sales Associate, you need strong communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent sales experience. Familiarity with CRM software, call center systems, and sales tracking tools is typically required. Resilience, adaptability, and a positive attitude are vital soft skills that help you handle rejection and build rapport with potential clients. These skills drive successful lead generation, customer acquisition, and achievement of sales targets in a competitive environment.

Job description

Outbound Sales Executive I

At Dynamic Lifecycle Innovations, we give electronics their next best life while protecting our planet and our customers' interests. As a Certified Great Place to Work® since 2017, we've built a team culture that's rewarding, engaging, and FUN! But don't just take our word for it—see what our Team Members have to say.

???? How We Hire: The Head, Heart, and Briefcase

At Dynamic Lifecycle Innovations, we believe great performance comes from alignment across three areas:

  • ????Head – your natural behavioral drives and cognitive agility (measured by our Predictive Index assessment)
  • ❤️Heart – your values, passions, and what drives you to make a meaningful impact
  • ????Briefcase – your experiences, skills, and results from past roles

Every step of our process is designed to understand you in all three areas. It's how we ensure the best mutual fit, not just for what you can do, but for how you'll thrive here long-term.

You'll start with the Predictive Index (PI) assessment (takes <20 minutes total), then move through structured interviews, work samples, and culture-focused interviews. We respect your time and promise clear, timely communication throughout.

???? Work Location: Onalaska, WI or Hendersonville, TN (Hybrid optional; however, required to be onsite 2 to 3 days per week)

???? Compensation & Benefits

Total Compensation: $63,500 - $86,000 annually

Benefits Include:

  • Comprehensive health benefits starting the first of the month following hire
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Profit sharing
  • Generous paid time off and paid holidays

???? Your Purpose

As our Outbound Sales Executive, you'll drive the wholesale movement of IT equipment by managing sales and purchasing transactions, developing strong buyer relationships, and helping determine how equipment should be positioned in the market.

You'll serve as a trusted resource in equipment valuation and pricing, using market conditions, buyer demand, product knowledge, historical performance, and expected return to establish competitive pricing and identify the best sales opportunities.

Working closely with Operations, you'll help determine whether equipment should be tested, configured, packaged, harvested, sold as-is, or directed to another sales channel. Your market knowledge and customer insight will help Dynamic move inventory efficiently, reduce aging, strengthen margins, and maximize the recovery value of the technology entrusted to us.

???? What You'll Do

  • Manage wholesale sales activities from initial equipment review through order completion, shipment, and invoicing.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective buyers while identifying opportunities to expand Dynamic's buyer network.
  • Travel to conferences, trade shows, customer meetings, and buyer locations to strengthen partnerships and gain a deeper understanding of market needs.
  • Research current market conditions, historical sales, equipment specifications, comparable transactions, and buyer demand to establish accurate, competitive pricing.
  • Evaluate unfamiliar, specialized, or previously unseen equipment and identify potential buyers and resale channels.
  • Partner closely with Operations to determine how equipment should be tested, configured, packaged, grouped, harvested, or otherwise processed to improve its marketability.
  • Maintain visibility into available inventory, incoming equipment, processing activity, and aging material to help prioritize sales and operational decisions.
  • Coordinate with buyers, Operations, Logistics, Finance, and other internal teams to ensure transactions are completed accurately and on time.
  • Proactively resolve issues that could delay inventory movement, customer delivery, or future sales opportunities.
  • Analyze sales, pricing, inventory, and market data to identify trends and recommend the best sales channels including wholesale, ecommerce, auction, or alternative channels.

???? What You Bring (Briefcase)

  • Post-high school education, professional training, or certification in business, business management, marketing, sales, or a related field. Additional relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • One to three years of experience in customer service, account management, sales support, or a related area.
  • Familiarity with sales processes and customer transaction management.
  • Previous experience with IT equipment, electronics, technology resale, or a related industry is a plus.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel frequently.
  • Preferred: Associate degree in business management or a related field
  • Preferred: B2B customer service or account management experience
  • Preferred: Experience working with ERP, CRM, accounting, ecommerce, or related business systems

???? Skills & Abilities (Head)

  • Strong negotiation skills and sound judgment when evaluating pricing, terms, warranties, and return conditions.
  • Ability to build trusted, long-term relationships with buyers and prospective customers.
  • Analytical ability to interpret sales history, market conditions, pricing trends, inventory performance, and buyer demand.
  • Curiosity and resourcefulness when researching new, uncommon, or unfamiliar technology.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong data-entry, reporting, and data-integrity practices.
  • Effective time management, organization, and prioritization in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions, priorities, and customer needs simultaneously.
  • Strong cross-functional communication with Operations, Logistics, Finance, and other internal partners.
  • Confidence making day-to-day sales decisions, including when to sell, who to sell to, acceptable pricing, and appropriate transaction terms.

❤️ Who You Are (Heart)

You're a service-driven, market-focused professional who enjoys the challenge of connecting the right equipment with the right buyer at the right time. You combine relationship-building with commercial judgment and understand that a successful sale must create value for both the customer and Dynamic.

You're naturally curious and willing to dig into the details when equipment, pricing, or market demand is unfamiliar. You move comfortably between customer conversations, data analysis, operational problem-solving, and transaction coordination without losing sight of the bigger business outcome.

You communicate clearly, follow through on commitments, and bring a strong sense of ownership to your work. Change and competing priorities don't throw you off course—they give you another opportunity to organize, collaborate, and find the best path forward. Most importantly, you want your work to contribute to a meaningful mission while helping customers, teammates, and technology succeed.

???? Why You'll Love Working Here

???? Purpose with Impact: Help give electronics their "next best life" while protecting the planet
???? Award-Winning Culture: Certified Great Place to Work® since 2017
???? Innovation Encouraged: Your ideas are welcomed and valued
???? Growth Opportunities: Learn, grow, and lead at an enterprise level
???? Values-Driven Organization: We live our values—not just talk about them
