The logistics position is responsible for coordinating the equipment, tooling, materials, shipping, staging, and field support needed for reactor vessel peening project during nuclear outage.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Coordinating shipment of specialized peening equipment and tooling
- Tracking outage materials, hoses, pumps, fixtures, and rigging gear
- Managing staging and laydown areas inside protected plant areas
- Supporting pull-to-pad movement of tools and components
- Coordinating cranes, forklifts, trucking, and vendor deliveries
- Handling inventory and serialized nuclear-grade equipment tracking
- Supporting outage schedules and work sequencing
- Preparing shipping, receiving, QA, and contamination-control paperwork
- Coordinating manpower mobilization, access, and badging
- Working with outage managers, RP (radiation protection), planners, and field supervisors
- Supporting rapid-response logistics for emergent outage issues
The work environment is usually:
- Fast-paced
- Industrial/heavy-equipment oriented
- High-security nuclear environment
- Long outage shifts (often 12-hour days)
- Travel to outage required
Desired Skills:
- Industrial or outage logistics experience
- Inventory/material tracking
- SAP, Maximo, or warehouse systems
- Forklift or rigging familiarity
- Strong organization and communication
- Ability to work under outage schedule pressure
- Knowledge of nuclear QA and contamination-control practices
