Job Title:Sr. Apps Development Analyst - OSU Health PlanDepartment:OSU Health Plan | Information Systems IT

Position Summary

Serves as the primary contributor at OSU Health Plan in the analysis and validation of system requirements to existing business processes and information systems to ensure desirability, practicality, and resource availability and capability. Designs, develops and implements complex programs and/or modifications of existing applications. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results. Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation of complex applications according to organization standards and end-user requirements. Responsible for the determination, diagnosis, isolation and resolution of complex applications resource and utilization problems and errors. Develops fault diagnosis, isolation and resolution techniques that ensure optimal performance is constantly maintained.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Programming (Design/Development/Implementation): Plans, develops, tests, and documents complex business applications programs. Writes and debugs code in the appropriate program language to ensure that the application meets all design specifications and functionality.

  • Systems Analysis: Provides the definition and development of specifications and programming for complex technical modules, applications, prototypes and computer programs.

  • Project Management/Administrative: Leads application projects from medium to large in scope, risk and impact.

  • Quality Assurance: Carries out procedures to ensure that all application systems, products and services meet minimum organization standards and end-user requirements; tests applications to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects.

  • Maintenance/Support: Plans and performs maintenance on applications; modifies program design and code; implements testing procedures; maintains technical documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable.

  • 4 years of relevant experience required. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred in Information Technology (preferably experience in Applications Development)

  • Extensive knowledge of and professional experience with Java, web, and related technologies

  • Knowledge of program logic, analysis, specification design, language selection and report formatting

  • Work experience in developing technical and user documentation

  • Strong project and process management skills; ability to manage complex projects with a medium to large scope

  • Good communication skills

  • Knowledge and experience with information systems and business practices

  • Ability to assist other team members with their technical issues

  • Must be able to keep self abreast of technological trends as well as healthcare technology trends
