Technical Sales Engineer - Cold Forming Division

It’s Cold Forming Divisionis one of the largest full-line domestic die manufacturers in the United States, delivering high-performance tooling for applications in automotive, aerospace, energy, heavy equipment, agriculture, and construction. OSG supports the fastener market with a comprehensive line of thread rolling dies—including flat, cylindrical, planetary, rack, and trim dies.

Position Summary:

A Technical Sales Engineer implements customer-focused solutions through in-depth product knowledge and technical aptitude. By closely collaborating with our sales team, you will grow market share at Cold Forming accounts through high-potential opportunities. This position will teach the Technical Sales Engineer the essential skills to become a successful OSG USA, Inc. Regional Sales Account Representative.

Job Functions for Technical Sales Engineer:
  • Supports OSG Regional Sales account representatives by focusing on business development opportunities through tool recommendations, technical seminars, and customer relationships to provide appropriate solutions to sales opportunity demands
  • Travels and visits end users 50% of the time to support regional growth
  • Supports end-user customers and the OSG Regional Sales account representatives within assigned regions
  • Responsible for correctly implementing OSG USA products through Cold-Forming tool demonstrations and/or technical seminars
  • Thorough understanding of competitive landscapes to ensure the reduction of competitor conversions
  • Communicates across departments to deliver and gather relevant information
  • Supports Technical Sales Engineering managerCFD for new product development and introductions by gathering field data and delivering it in a concise manner
  • Respond to technical questions from end users and sales channels with promptness and precision
  • Develops and delivers product features and technical training for internal employees and external customers
  • Initiate test applications that assist in the development of technical sales proposals, including running machines to establish optimum machining conditions
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes applications with precise recommendations and solutions to customers' problems
  • Active in continuously growing skills, knowledge, and abilities in technical and sales aptitude
  • Handle confidential information discreetly
Qualifications forTechnical Sales Engineer:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial/Machine Technology or similar technical degree or background
  • General knowledge of manufacturing/machining industry
  • Basic knowledge and operation using Computer Aided Design software
  • Ability to read and comprehend prints
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Ability to communicate solutions with both engineers and non-engineers
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations pertaining to machining
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel by air and overnight between 50% or more of the time, possibly including entertainment of customers
  • Must possess a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license
Preferred Qualifications forTechnical Sales Engineer:
  • Through sales and customer relationship experiences, you possess the ability to listen and understand the customer’s constraints and have a proven record of accomplishment of delivering technical solutions for their demand
  • Strong familiarity with cold-forming tools and cold-forming machine
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with CNC controls
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft applications
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing techniques and processes
