Job description

Overview

This position is responsible for managing and developing the company’s positions for commodities in the CA local market(s) in addition to supporting and facilitating commercial origination and trading activities across the organization.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage inbound and outbound logistics for transload and mill facilities.
  • Ensure timely product deliveries to customers.
  • Manage risk positions for respective commodities including but not limited to cottonseed, cottonseed hulls, gin trash, rice bran, rice hulls, and cottonseed meal.
  • Participate in daily dialogue across Viserion business units to coordinate supply chain, pricing and logistics
  • Identify and capitalize on market opportunities for profit.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships within organizational and industry networks
  • Collaborate closely with the supply chain to ensure internal documentation and contracts are in order and executed as contracted while ensuring commodities meet needed quality specifications.
  • Monitoring market trends to capitalize on trading opportunities.
  • Participate in weekly merchandising and logistics meetings.
  • Update daily/weekly/monthly values for Mark to Market P&L estimates.
  • Create yearly budgets
  • Maintain and manage Monthly P&L’s
  • Update commodity forecasts each month.
Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability necessary to perform this job successfully:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, General Business, Finance required.
  • Proven track record of originating/trading in the grains and commodity industry.
  • Strong existing network of relevant contacts in the grains and commodity industry.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of accounting principles, market values, pricing and margin factors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to learn, prioritize, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with coworkers effectively.
Physical Requirments
  • Frequently required to: sit for prolonged periods of time, reach for/manipulate standard office equipment, communicate with various staff and/or reach for and manipulate objects.
