TITLE: Sr. Analyst, Origination

EMPLOYER: AES Clean Energy Services LLC

LOCATION: Houston, TX (Hybrid position; part time telecommuting authorized)

DUTIES: Responsible for analysis, research, and transactional support for RFP and bilateral origination activity to support the company's wind, solar, energy storage asset development growth and existing portfolio; structured origination products include renewable portfolio PPAs, load following and carbon free energy solutions, but also more traditional PPAs, VPPAs or other financial and physical instruments. Work closely with the entire origination team as well as the commercial and development teams in the AES Clean Energy business. Support the sourcing, negotiation, and execution of long-term power sale agreements with customers to facilitate the development of renewable assets, energy storage, while meeting customers' needs for sustainability and carbon free goals. Coordinating with internal teams such as Commercial, Development, Finance, Engineering, and other departments to deliver required deliverables for renewable PPA origination transactions. Prepare internal and external memos and presentations including RFP summaries. Prepare proposals and presentation materials for customers for both RFP processes as well as bilateral negotiations. Keep abreast of renewable energy opportunities and national trends impacting the future of renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers. Support the development of uniform and consistent deal processes across the business.

REQUIREMENTS: Job requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field and 3 years of experience with energy market analysis.

Experience must include:

  • 3 years of experience with Salesforce CRM
  • 1 year of experience with light PPA drafting and contract interpretation
  • 1 year of experience in renewable generation technology field including wind, solar and or battery storage.
  • 1 year of experience in energy markets (PJM, SERC and/ or NYISO)
  • 1 year of experience with poly, regulations and tariffs in various energy markets
  • 3 years of experience gathering market intelligence on different energy markets
  • 1 year of experience with energy, capacity and environmental attributes of renewable energy products

Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • Different energy market dynamics and project qualities that impact project pricing in deregulated and regulated utility markets
  • Generation Technology including Natural Gas, Coal, wind, solar, and battery storage
