Work Location: Westampton Township, NJ 08060
Payrate: $20.00/hr
Duration: Temp to hire
Shift: decided upon interview (must be able to work weekends)
Dress Code: No nail polish or fake nails, winter clothes, and no jewelry
PPE required: Steel-toe boots, winter attire
 
Job Description:
Coordinating and executing sanitation activities in a food manufacturing environment. This role ensures that all equipment, production areas, and tools are cleaned and sanitized according to USDA,GMP, HCCAP and company standards to maintain food safety and quality. The Sanitation Lead supports sanitation staff, monitors performance, and works closely with QA and operations to meet all regulatory and operational requirements. All Intelligent Foods employees are also required to adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safe food handling procedures, quality control, and all safety procedures and policies in the distribution centers.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with production and industry standards (USFDA, NOP Organic) by maintaining the Sanitation Master schedule.
  • Follow all cleaning procedures using established SOP/SSOPs when performing daily tasks such as sanitizing equipment, removal of waste and debris
  • Follow procedures for the safe use and labeling of chemical cleaners and power equipment per manufacturer specifications to prevent unsafe handling and/or damage to floor and fixtures
  • Assist the supervisor with work schedules, task assignment to sanitation associates and inspection of work in progress and completion.
  • Ensure the facility is cleaned and sanitized according to company and regulatory standards of all areas, including processing lines, equipment, and non-food handling areas.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., production, quality) to address sanitation-related issues and ensure smooth operations.
  • Lead and direct sanitation team during scheduled cleaning shifts, including pre-operational and deep-cleaning tasks
  • Enforce and ensure team adherence to LOTO procedures during sanitation and maintenance activities.
  • Assist supervisor with new hire development ensuring a base knowledge of food safety, quality and established safety procedures.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, communicate effectively, and provide clear instructions.
  • Inspect the facility frequently to ensure compliance with product safety, standards of quality and cleanliness are met.
  • Promoting a safe work environment, enforcing safety regulations, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards like HACCP, GMP, PPE and USDA regulations.
  • Must follow Intelligent Foods policies and procedures and promote a safety-first culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1+ years of related experience in food handling production or sanitation experience
  • At least 6 months of supervisory experience and leading a crew of 10+ employees
  • Experience in a food manufacturing facility is preferred
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, in group settings, be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Must be willing and able to work a variety of shifts and overtime as required; even on ability to communicate duties, tasks, policies and procedures to the team members through training and informal meetings
  • Ability to work in a refrigerated environment (-9º-42º Fahrenheit) for 8 or more hours and in some instances, in a dark environment. This includes executing assigned tasks in the freezer as needed
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office knowledge (i.e. Excel, Word, etc.) and other google applications (Gmail, sheets, etc.)
  • Excellent communicator both verbal and written, Bilingual strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of LOTO procedures and OSHA safety regulations

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires exposure to heat, gas, electrical.
