Job Title: Customer Service Clerk

Location: Calumet City, IL

Industry: Nonprofit / Cemetery Services

Compensation: $45000 – $52000 / Year

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday 8:15 AM–4:00 PM, Saturdays 9:00 AM–1:00 PM (6-day work week, onsite – 40hrs)

Addison Group is hiring for our client, a mission-driven organization in the nonprofit cemetery services space that supports families through end-of-life planning and memorial services.


Job Description:

The Customer Service Clerk will support families and internal teams by managing administrative, customer service, and transactional functions related to cemetery services. This role requires a compassionate, detail-oriented professional who can manage sensitive interactions while ensuring accuracy in documentation, billing, and service coordination.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and maintain records related to burial and memorial arrangements, including orders, permits, invoices, and supporting documentation
  • Assist families with selecting cemetery services such as plots, crypts, niches, memorial options, and related offerings
  • Support administrative processing for sales agreements, maps, records, and account documentation
  • Manage billing tasks, payments, invoicing, and service-related correspondence
  • Respond to customer inquiries in person and over the phone with professionalism and empathy
  • Maintain and organize office supplies and records, including inventory tracking as needed
  • Support mailing, data entry, and general administrative functions across service operations
  • Perform additional clerical duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in customer service, client support, or retail/office-based service roles
  • Experience handling data entry, order processing, or transactional administrative work
  • Comfortable managing phone-based customer interactions, including resolving concerns and de-escalating situations
  • Ability to discuss fees, payments, and billing information clearly and professionally
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of professionalism, maturity, and emotional intelligence in sensitive situations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Bilingual Spanish and/or Polish is a plus
