Job description

Role: L2 Database Administrator (DBA) – Oracle

Hands‑on experience administering Oracle databases in production environments, including instance startup/shutdown, parameter tuning, and routine operational maintenance.

Strong working knowledge of Oracle operational maintenance, including RMAN full and incremental backups, restore operations, archive log management, optimizer statistics gathering, and scheduled health checks.

Ability to perform routine Oracle health diagnostics and remediation, including identifying tablespace and storage growth risks, validating database integrity, and proactively addressing common availability and performance issues.

Ability to execute approved Oracle changes (installations, upgrades, PSU/patch application, and configuration updates) by following documented runbooks, validation steps, and rollback procedures.

Working understanding of ITSM processes using ServiceNow, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management, with accurate ticket documentation and timely escalation to L3 Oracle DBAs.

Practical experience with Oracle performance monitoring and basic tuning, including AWR/ASH analysis, slow SQL identification, wait‑event diagnostics, and monitoring CPU, memory, and I/O contention.

Ability to package and escalate complex SQL, optimizer, and performance issues to L3 DBAs with relevant diagnostics and supporting analysis.

Hands‑on execution of Oracle backup validation and restore activities, including support for recovery and disaster recovery exercises under L3 guidance.

Experience supporting Oracle security operations, including user and role management, privilege administration, password and profile enforcement, and execution of approved security controls.

Experience supporting audit and compliance activities for Oracle env., including evidence collection, remediation execution, and controlled documentation updates.
