The Business Systems Analyst serves as a key member of the IT Functional Team, providing analytical, technical, and operational support for Oracle Cloud and boundary systems. The incumbent partners with campus stakeholders to analyze business processes, define system requirements, and ensure that HR technology solutions effectively support institutional goals. The position supports configuration, data integrity, and ongoing maintenance across core ERP functions.
The Business Systems Analyst serves as a techno-functional expert for UCSF's enterprise Oracle Cloud ERP platform, as well as other administrative systems supported by IT. The role acts as a key liaison between business users, IT technical teams, and Oracle support, ensuring that system configurations, integrations, and enhancements align with UCSF's operational goals, compliance standards, and financial policies.
This position requires not only technical and functional ERP expertise but also strong institutional knowledge of UCSF business processes, operational structures, and policy frameworks. The analyst plays a critical role in designing, configuring, testing, and maintaining Oracle Cloud ERP solutions that support efficient, compliant, and scalable business operations across the university.
Acting as the primary liaison between Grants Research, Financials and Student finance business users, IT, and Oracle Support, the analyst ensures Oracle Cloud PPM,AR solutions are aligned with UCSF's research policies, and operational standards. Success in this role requires both technical expertise and deep institutional knowledge of UCSF's research, order to cash and finance processes, policies, and regulatory requirements, enabling the delivery of scalable and compliant solutions that support patient care, research, and administrative excellence.
Success in this role requires hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud configuration, data validation, regression testing, and issue triage, as well as proficiency in tools such as OTBI, BI Publisher, BI Cloud Connect, and PPM Extracts and Integration. Experience supporting one or more Oracle PPM and finance modules such as AR, Billing, Cash management, Student Finance. This position includes regular onsite work, typically 1-3 days per month. The exact schedule and frequency may be adjusted as needed to meet departmental and operational demands.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • BA Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance, or BS in Computer Science, Information System, or related field and 5 or more years of directly related experience; and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 5 years of experience supporting Oracle Cloud or comparable ERP systems.
  • 3+ years of experience in relational database, SQL, or system development life-cycle project; and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or equivalent role supporting Oracle Cloud PPM, Grants or Financials
  • Advanced knowledge of business and process analysis methodologies (e.g., eliciting requirements, gap analysis, root cause analysis).
  • Demonstrated experience as a senior resource assisting in the definition of systems strategy, gathering and documenting business requirements, leading fit-gap analysis, as-is and to- be business process designs, conference room pilots (CRPs) functional configuration, testing, client user training
  • Expertise in translating business needs into clear functional specifications and system configurations.
  • Advanced skills in process design, software configuration, and system modification from requirements gathering to deployment.
  • Proficiency in system testing, data validation, and issue triage across multiple functional domains.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in
