Business Intelligence Analyst

Full Time San Diego, CA, US

7 days ago Requisition ID: 1153

Salary: $110,000.00 Annually

As a Barronโ€™s Top 100 RIA firm and voted Best Places to Work by Fortune, Pacific Coast Business Times, Inc. (Best Workplaces), and Investment News, Mission Wealth is hiring a growth-minded Business Intelligence Analyst to join our award-winning team! If you are ready to elevate your career in a leading wealth management company with a commitment to giving back to the community and expanding nationally, letโ€™s go!

As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will turn business questions into clear metrics, trusted dashboards, and selfโ€‘service analytics that help advisors, operators, and leadership make confident decisions. You will sit at the intersection of the business and our data platformโ€”gathering requirements, defining what our numbers mean, and making sure the reporting people rely on is accurate, consistent, and easy to use.

Partnering closely with the Data & Analytics, Operations, Finance, M&A, and Advisor teams, you will own metric definitions and documentation, build and maintain dashboards, and drive stakeholder alignment on a shared source of truth. This is a handsโ€‘on role that blends analysis, communication, and enablement; less about building pipelines and more about making data usable, understood, and trusted across the firm.

Youโ€™ll play a key role in professionalizing how Mission Wealth measures itselfโ€”standardizing definitions, reducing conflicting reports, and helping teams answer their own questions through wellโ€‘designed, governed dashboards. Mission Wealth has offered 360โ€‘degree wealth management services to affluent families since 2000. Our dynamic planning process ensures that every piece of the puzzle is put into place as our clientsโ€™ lives unfold and their needs evolve. This gives them the complete picture and confidence in their financial future.

Day-to-Day as a Business Intelligence Analyst

Metrics & Definitions

  • Partner with stakeholders across Operations, Finance, M&A, and Advisor teams to define, document, and standardize the metrics and KPIs the firm relies on
  • Maintain a clear, governed metric catalogโ€”single definitions, calculation logic, and business contextโ€”so the same number means the same thing everywhere
  • Reconcile conflicting or duplicate reports by establishing an agreedโ€‘upon source of truth and retiring oneโ€‘off spreadsheets
  • Document data sources, assumptions, and known limitations so reporting is transparent and auditable
  • Translate business requirements into intuitive dashboards and reports using modern BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms
  • Write and optimize SQL against Snowflake to build analyticsโ€‘ready datasets and answer ad hoc questions
  • Deliver clear, actionable reporting for advisors, operators, and leadership, including recurring KPI, operational, and executive views
  • Partner with the Data & Analytics team to create LLMโ€‘ready datasets

Stakeholder Alignment & Requirements

  • Run requirementsโ€‘gathering conversations that turn ambiguous asks into clear, prioritized deliverables
  • Facilitate alignment across teams on definitions, priorities, and what โ€œgoodโ€ looks like for a given report
  • Manage analytics request intake and roadmap, setting expectations and communicating status to technical and nonโ€‘technical audiences
  • Conduct user acceptance testing and validation so dashboards are correct and trusted before they go live

Selfโ€‘Service Enablement & Data Literacy

  • Build and document selfโ€‘service reporting so teams can answer their own questions without waiting on a custom pull
  • Create user guides, quickโ€‘reference materials, and training that raise data literacy across the firm
  • Champion good reporting habitsโ€”consistent definitions, appropriate visualizations, and healthy skepticism of unvetted numbers
  • Gather feedback and continuously improve dashboards, definitions, and enablement materials over time

Who You Are and What You Bring

  • You are a strong communicator who can translate between business stakeholders and technical teams with equal ease
  • You are curious and analytically rigorousโ€”you dig into the โ€œwhyโ€ behind a number before you report it
  • You care about clarity and consistency, and youโ€™re motivated by making data usable and trusted rather than just available
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and skilled at turning vague requests into concrete, prioritized work
  • You value documentation, standards, and reuse over oneโ€‘off reports

Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Analytics, Finance, Information Systems, Economics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a business analyst, data analyst, or reportingโ€‘focused role, including documenting metrics and partnering with stakeholders
  • Handsโ€‘on experience with a modern BI tool (Tableau, Power BI, or similar) building dashboards from business requirements
  • Strong SQL skills for querying, validating, and shaping analyticsโ€‘ready data
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business questions into clear metrics, requirements, and reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and nonโ€‘technical audiences
  • Experience with Snowflake or a similar cloud data warehouse or data lake
  • Salesforce experience (reporting, objects, or CRM Analytics) will be considered heavily
  • Experience in financial services, particularly wealth management or RIAs, is a plus
  • Familiarity with data governance, metric documentation, and sourceโ€‘ofโ€‘truth practices
  • Exposure to requirements gathering, user acceptance testing, and selfโ€‘service enablement or dataโ€‘literacy programs

Job Type: Full-time, salaried exempt

Location: This position is based out of our San Diego office. This is an inโ€‘office position only.

Salary:$90,000 base salary; $20,000 annual bonus paid in quarterly increments

This position is not eligible for employerโ€‘sponsored work authorization. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and must not require employer sponsorship now or in the future to maintain employment authorization.
