Job description

Career Employment is for applicants who desire 30+ hours weekly and full-time employment throughout the calendar year - perfect for those looking to choose Opus as a long-term position or career.

Opus Coffee has been roasting and serving high-quality coffee since 2002. From bean to cup, our baristas are at the center of our mission: Serving good coffee for good people. Across Gainesville, our ten locations strive to provide a positive and inclusive company culture and place of growth for our employees. As a Barista, you will educate customers on our products, craft high-quality drinks by following recipes and proper bar techniques, and cultivate community with guests and coworkers alike each day.

The starting base pay for this position is $14.50/hour, plus our tip pool (averaging $3.75-$4.75), cash tips, and Career Employment benefits, including Paid Time Off, making for an hourly average of $18-$19 to start. We offer additional raises for bar training ($0.25 increase; occurs 3 weeks after first day), biannual increases ($0.25 every 6 months), and opportunities for leadership. Here's what we're looking for in a Barista candidate:

  • At least one year of customer-facing food service experience (required)
  • Barista experience is preferred - but a passion for quality coffee is enough!
  • Interested in committing long-term to Opus and reliable presence throughout the year
  • Demonstrates outgoing and positive attitude with guests
  • Interested in leadership and development
  • Most importantly, clear and kind communication with coworkers and confidence to be yourself
