The Strategic Account Executive is responsible for client growth / retention and client satisfaction, renewal of existing contracts and up-selling of appropriate services to clients. The Strategic Account Executive manages ongoing client relationships and service delivery for an assigned book of business and serves as a client-centric, client-facing resource and lead point of contact. The Strategic Account Executive represents clients internally as an advocate and coordinates with other functional areas within the company to support the implementation of client benefits, complete projects and address service needs.

This individual may also work closely with sales on prospective clients and RFP responses. This individual will work with IT to translate technology issues the client may be experiencing related to apps or through system installations, migrations, enhancements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of OptumRx solutions according to customer needs and objectives
  • Act as outward-facing, dedicated resource for assigned accounts, typically with direct client contact (not call center) and large or complex accounts
  • Management of book of business
  • Serve as the lead point of contact for all client account management matters with majority involving app technology
  • Secure renewal and upselling programs
  • Implement and adhere to client contract / amendments
  • Contract terms and negotiations
  • Develop new business with existing clients and/or identify areas of improvement to meet yearly goals
  • Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed
  • Manage ongoing contract relationships and service delivery for assigned book
  • Build relationships with clients (not individual members) and partners with a Optum Rx Account Manager for overall and day-to-day service delivery
  • Represent client internally and coordinates with other functions to implement client systems, complete projects, and address ongoing service

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of client relationship management or account management experience
  • 3 years PBM Health plan client management
  • Experience reading, interpreting and negotiating contract terms
  • Client-facing presentation experience
  • Proven experience developing written content for executive summaries
  • Advanced understanding of the PBM/pharmacy industry
  • PBM technical knowledge or technical acumen
  • Driver's License and access to a reliable transportation
  • Able to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing national and/or strategic accounts
  • Experience navigating through system enhancements or installations
  • Experience working with RxClaim
  • Experience interpreting financial data
  • Experience working cross-functionally within a matrix environment
  • Knowledge of applications software and ability to troubleshoot/escalate client escalated issues
  • Understanding PBM technology applications and the upstream/downstream system process flow
  • Proven ability to translate technical needs to IT partners internally
  • Proven ability exhibit leadership through influencing without authority

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
