Job description

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Production Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing the production activities within the pharmacy department. This role involves managing pharmacy production processes, mainstreaming the workflow as well as training new staff.  

Key Responsibilities

  1. Production Management:
    • Direct pharmacy production workflow, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
    • Oversee compounding, packaging, and labeling processes for pharmaceutical products, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Scheduling:
    • Assist or direct the creation of staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
  3. Training and Development:
    • Provide training and ongoing education to pharmacy production staff on standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
    • Keep staff informed about changes in regulations and industry standards related to pharmacy operations.
  4. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, including those related to medication procurement, storage, and handling.
    • Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry standards governing pharmacy production practices.
  5. Quality Assurance:
    • Implement quality assurance measures to verify the accuracy and integrity of pharmaceutical products and packaging.
    • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations.
  6. Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline pharmacy production processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
    • Implement best practices and process improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.
  7. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with other departments, including pharmacy dispensing and data entry, to ensure seamless coordination of pharmacy operations and fulfillment of patient orders.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Pharmacy Technician with state board of pharmacy.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in pharmacy production, purchasing, or inventory management, with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in pharmacy production and purchasing processes.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions

  • Works in office area(s) and pharmacy.
  • Moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.

Education

Must possess and maintain any and all necessary active and unencumbered certifications, degrees, or licenses in the necessary state, to the extent the position requires such certifications, degrees, or licenses.
