This full-time, remote position focuses on providing critical support to individuals battling substance use disorders. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough and compassionate assessments for clients seeking treatment for substance use disorders, focusing on their unique needs and recovery goals.
  • Design tailored treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based interventions and therapeutic approaches, ensuring the best possible outcomes for clients.
  • Deliver individualized counseling sessions that utilize motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and other clinically recognized techniques to promote positive change.
  • Facilitate engaging group therapy sessions that foster a sense of community and support among clients in recovery.
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, addiction specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that care remains integrated and comprehensive throughout the patient's journey.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support during substance-related emergencies, ensuring immediate care for patients in distress.
  • Educate clients and families on addiction recovery strategies, available community resources, and the importance of ongoing support networks.

Patient Population / Client Focus

As a Mental Health Counselor at Optum Health, you will primarily work with individuals grappling with substance use disorders, including those experiencing co-occurring mental health issues. Your role will involve not only facilitating therapy but also providing compassionate support and understanding tailored to each individual’s situation.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as a LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, or PSYD in Washington state.
  • Proven experience in mental health counseling, particularly in substance use disorder treatment.

Compensation and Benefits
