Job description

Summary:
Serve as driver's supervisor/representative in Operations. Manage drivers performance in identified categories and be primary communication link to drivers. Work to achieve optimum driver and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Sole communications link to driver, including, but not limited to, load information, advances, purchase orders, maintenance coordination, performance counseling, and dissemination of general company news and information.
2. Responsible for assigned full board of tractors and drivers, including, but not limited to effective management for optimum performance in the following categories:
โ€ข Ensuring data entry is correct always. Coding errors on service failures need to be minimal. Fleet Managers will be responsible for 99.5% data entry accuracy.
โ€ข Responsible to ensure your driver turnover stays in the ideal range. The ideal range will vary month by month, but preventable turnover should never exceed 60%.
โ€ข Utilization, mileage may vary as well, depending on the month. Utilization overall should be 310-326 MPU per day. In case of dedicated freight your MPU goal may be adjusted to fit the expectation of that specific business unit.
โ€ข On-time Service- Service failures should be minimal. It is your responsibility to communicate to the driver the customers expectations.
โ€ข Overall safety- Hours of service, unsafe driving, and overall CSA scores will affect your bonus potential.
3. Make sure drivers are current on preventative maintenance on their trucks.
4. Update drivers on road conditions and restrictions as communicated by the Safety Department.
5. Communicate to HR in a timely manner on Drivers Medical Conditions or attendance issues.
6. Handling driver complaints and ensuring complaints are escalated to the appropriate person or department and handled in a timely manner.
7. Work with Load Planners and other Fleet Managers to plan future workload.
8. Work with Service and Breakdown departments to adequately maintain equipment and meet service schedules.
9. Must be able to think strategically and plan ahead of rapidly changing situations while maintaining a positive team-oriented attitude.
10. Must be well organized and engaged with the team-members.
11. Maintain a positive attitude with co-workers and supervisor, exercising the speed of trust when issues arise.

Preferred Qualification:
  • 2-year degree in related field.
  • 3-year experience in transportation.
  • Demonstrates decision-making ability with little supervision.
  • Intermediate user ability for Microsoft Excel.
