Job description

Optim Orthopedics is seeking a full time, remote Medicare Billing Specialist.

Job Requirements:

  • Utilizes the practice's email system to send and receive work related communications.
  • Reviews Athena claims worklist as assigned daily and prioritize accounts based on Insurance Priority Task List.
  • Documents phone calls and resolution of accounts in the PMS (Practice Management System) on the corresponding accounts.
  • Works a minimum of 200 accounts per week.
  • Ensures Days in AR are 45 days or lower per KZA benchmarks.
  • Ensures AR >90 days is lower than 20% per KZA benchmarks.
  • Ensures Net Collection percentage is 97% per MGMA benchmarks.
  • Reviews carrier newsletters and updates on their web pages each month.
  • Submits/uploads necessary medical records and supporting documentation to Athena for the purpose of appealing incorrectly denied claims within 24-48 hours of receipt of request.
  • Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints/issues.
  • Answers patient calls and document how the patient was helped in the computer.
  • Participates in educational activities and monthly department meetings by being prepared to discuss specific issues related to your assignment.
  • Assists other personnel in the performance of their duties as determined by department manager. Function as a relief for other personnel in the office, as appropriate and to facilitate co-workers' taking of time off.
  • Prioritizes work received and complete in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with department manager and/or supervisor regarding any problems.
  • Maintain an organized department procedure manual which contains memorandums, updates, etc.
  • Performs other work duties and assignments as required.
  • Position is remote and requires self-motivation.
