Familiarity with relevant technical tools or software specific to your area of study—such as statistical software for data analysts or lab equipment for scientists—can be highly beneficial. Proactive communication, adaptability, and a willingness to learn are important soft skills for excelling in workplace settings outside the academic environment. OPT experiences often require collaboration with experienced professionals and may involve adapting to new tools, systems, or company protocols. This hands-on experience provides valuable insights into the U.S. workplace and helps you build skills and connections for your future career.
