Job description

Company Description Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Reston, Virginia, SOSi is a private defense and government solutions business specializing in advanced technology systems and mission support. Its capabilities include data science, software development, network engineering, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), and logistics. Job Description Overview SOSi is seeking qualified, professional healthcare interpreters to support CareOregon members during physical, behavioral, dental, home, community-based, and other covered service encounters. Interpreters may provide scheduled in-person services across CareOregon's service areas and scheduled or on-demand over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) and video remote interpretation (VRI). SOSi prioritizes Oregon Certified and Qualified Health Care Interpreters for clinical assignments. Professionally credentialed medical interpreters may also be considered in accordance with CareOregon requirements. All languages are encouraged to apply. Essential Job Duties * Provide accurate, complete, impartial, and consecutive interpretation between English and the approved target language while preserving the speaker's meaning, tone, and intent.
* Support CareOregon members, providers, and Service Sites through scheduled in-person interpretation and scheduled or on-demand OPI and VRI assignments, based on approved modality and availability.
* Maintain confidentiality, comply with HIPAA and applicable professional codes of ethics, and observe appropriate interpreter role boundaries.
* Arrive or connect on time, follow assignment instructions, verify identity as required, and promptly report delays, connection problems, safety concerns, or other service issues.
* Comply with CareOregon and Service Site requirements, including identification, health and safety, and required immunizations for applicable in-person assignments.
* For remote assignments, work from a private, confidential setting using reliable connectivity and equipment that support clear audio and video communication.
* Maintain current credentials and required documentation and complete applicable orientation, training, and continuing-education activities. Qualifications Minimum Requirements * High school diploma or equivalent.
* Current Oregon Health Authority Certified or Qualified Health Care Interpreter credential is strongly preferred. Other recognized professional medical interpreting credentials may be considered when permitted by CareOregon.
* High proficiency in English and the target language, including the ability to interpret different levels of language register, regional expressions, and colloquialisms with clear and intelligible pronunciation.
* Ability to preserve meaning, tone, and emotional content while managing pace, projection, pauses, and justified requests for clarification.
* Ability to provide and maintain a valid government-issued photographic identification and complete SOSi's required background-screening process.
* Ability to provide required independent-contractor, tax, payment, and applicable business documentation.
* For in-person assignments, reliable transportation and the ability to travel within the interpreter's accepted service area.
* For OPI or VRI assignments, access to a private workspace, reliable high-speed internet, and appropriate audio/video equipment.
* Ability to maintain current credentials, identification, training, and other required documentation throughout participation in SOSi's interpreter network.
Preferred Languages and Coverage SOSi welcomes applicants in all languages, with an initial emphasis on CareOregon's high-demand languages, American Sign Language, languages of lesser diffusion, and geographic coverage needs in the North Coast and Southern Oregon service areas. Additional Information Work Environment * In-person opportunities may be available at CareOregon and Service Sites in Clackamas, Clatsop, Columbia, Jackson, Multnomah, Tillamook, and Washington counties, based on interpreter location and availability.
* Remote opportunities are available to approved U.S.-based interpreters for OPI and VRI assignments.
* In-person interpretation is primarily prescheduled. Urgent and emergency requests may involve expedited outreach, and interpreters may accept assignments based on their availability and travel time.
* OPI and VRI services are available to CareOregon 24/7; individual contractors select and maintain their approved availability with SOSi.
Working at SOSi All interested individuals will receive consideration and will not be discriminated against for any reason.
