Chief Engineer - JLL

What this job involves:

As Chief Engineer at JLL, you will lead the operational management and daily administration of our engineering team with a focus on safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively operating critical building systems. You will be responsible for protecting and improving client asset value while ensuring 100% uptime across all building engineering systems. This role combines technical expertise with leadership excellence as you implement reliability-based maintenance programs, oversee mechanical and electrical equipment operations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Your commitment to professionalism and client service excellence will directly contribute to JLL's mission of creating transformative solutions for the real estate industry.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Monitor and maintain HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, valves, and other mechanical/electrical equipment while reviewing operational logs to ensure optimal performance

Oversee contractor activities and manage building infrastructure projects, including preventive maintenance scheduling and repair frequency determination Implement and manage safety training programs while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements

Supervise, hire, train, and develop engineering and maintenance staff while maintaining high standards of professionalism

Manage inventory levels, prepare purchase orders, and develop supplier relationships for tools and materials necessary for building operations

Execute the Critical Facility Work Authorization (CFWA) process among staff, tenants, and contractors working on building infrastructure

Maintain comprehensive documentation including building drawings, single-lines, and regulatory compliance records

Required Qualifications:

Associate Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent work experience

7+ years of facility-related work experience with demonstrated customer service excellence

Proven managerial and supervisory experience leading technical teams

Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes and construction planning/execution

Working knowledge of HVAC, fluid handling, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CMMS systems

Universal Technician Certification for CFCs and Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

High Pressure Operator Engineer License

Advanced certifications in building systems or facilities management

Experience with reliability-based maintenance programs and continuous improvement methodologies

Background in critical facility operations or mission-critical environments

Strong analytical skills for equipment performance optimization

Experience with energy management and sustainability initiatives

Location: Albany, NY

Shift: 1st Shift

Estimated compensation for this position:

80,000.00 - 115,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
