Job description

Managed Pressure Drilling Field Engineer

The Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) Field Engineer will be responsible for setting up and operating the MPD equipment at the rig site and providing engineering support with guidance from the MPD engineer in office. The MPD Engineer will be responsible for the engineering design and modeling support from the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing quick look assessments for potential new clients, analyze the appropriate application of Beyond Energy's MPD equipment and expertise to each specific well or drilling campaign.
  • Assist in creating MPD programs, leverage MPD knowledge, and model wellbore hydraulics to incorporate MPD operations into client drilling programs and well designs for narrow window wells, sour wells, wells with sensitive formations, and performance drilling applications.
  • Assist in identifying appropriate MPD equipment and operations that adhere to client design parameters, assisting clients to achieve well objectives.
  • Interface regularly with client engineers and company men on location, as well as other third-party services.
  • Provide ongoing engineering and operations support, monitor real-time operations to ensure adherence to the MPD program, update modeling as required, maintain field reporting documentation, and generate engineering reports.
  • Technically inclined in terms of providing engineering solutions daily, and a high-level attention to detail in the engineering work provided.
  • Initial training and guidance will be provided but the engineer is expected to be able to function independently in handling different engineering inquiries in the field.
  • Participate in after-action reviews with clients, produce end-of-well/pad reports to capture lessons learned and best practices.
  • Schedule flexibility as it is necessary to meet customer drilling schedules and provide after-hours engineering support.
  • Travel to customers' locations and field support of ongoing operations as needed.
  • Work with office to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives throughout the engineering department and company.
  • Exemplify the corporate B.E.S.T P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E. S in all aspects of their work.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical diploma from an accredited university.
  • 0-2+ years of direct MPD or engineering experience focusing on drilling.
  • Strong Excel and M.S. Office skills.
  • Well Control, First Aid, and other applicable safety/field tickets.
  • Drilling & Completion field experience.
