Job description

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training.


  • Support the modeling, simulation, and analysis of platforms, sensors, and weapons within OSD-approved scenarios (with a heavy focus on Navy ISR&T).
  • Use a host of simulation tools, MATLAB and statistical methods to analyze system-trade comparisons as well as demonstrate mission utility.
  • Develop system performance metrics that provide insights to Government customers and decision-makers.
  • Independently communicate with customers to develop requirements, set expectations, develop assumptions, and relay results
  • Build complex models of systems by independently determining appropriate levels of detail
  • Coordinate teams of multiple analysts developing models of tactical situations in which to study system tradespace and demonstrate mission utility
  • Prepare analytical product reports and will be frequently asked to brief technical material to Government leadership.
  • Work travel to quarterly working group meetings (within CONUS) is possible as well as additional training opportunities.
  • Guide Junior Analysts and lead teams to produce complex analyses
  • Analyze environmental data and impacts on real world platforms and sensors
  • Apply advanced statistical methods to improve effectiveness of system capability
  • Guide Concept of Operations development through analysis
  • Interface with Subject Matter Experts to establish model assumptions
  • Clearly communicate complex technical methods
  • Generate presentations communicating analysis methodology and results for audiences ranging from MORS conferences to Flag Officers
  • Apply machine learning and pattern recognition optimization techniques

  • Active TS/SSBI 
  • Five (5) + years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of ORSA or similar analysis experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in operations research or related field with at least 24 semester hours in combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, computer science, engineering (aerospace, electrical, mechanical, systems engineering, etc.) or in political science, intelligence, foreign or international relations, or national security studies.
  • Familiarity with campaign/mission-level modeling and simulation applications and techniques
  • Example Applications:  Naval Simulation System (NSS), AFSIM, STORM, EADSIM, STK
  • Experience with MATLAB, SAS JMP, Python or PERL
  • Knowledge and experience in test planning and design, execution, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of parametric and non-parametric statistics, data reduction, data decomposition, data analysis techniques, development of measures of performance and evaluation, confidence intervals, computer analysis tools, and survey test and evaluation methods.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting test design and planning, data collection, and data analysis functions, knowledge of test and evaluation processes and activities.
  • Emphasis on discrete event analysis, data collection, analysis of results and translating abstract elements into useful operational information.
  • Ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner via verbal presentations, producing written products, or otherwise informing senior stakeholders.

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
