The Office of the Chief Information Officer does not sponsor STEM or non-immigrant work visas for this position.
Under the supervision and direction of the Core team IT Supervisor, this position will be responsible for advanced problem resolution, installation, and maintenance of Enterprise-wide Switches, Routers, Wireless and Firewalls. Other responsibilities include planning, design, development, optimization, documentation, and performance of the Statewide Wide Area Network.

Job Duties: Provide technical support at a senior level for Core Firewall, Routers, Wireless, and Switch configuration and maintenance. Provide technical support at a senior level for installation, operation, trouble shooting, and repair of network hardware. Coordinate multiple networking projects across multiple agencies at any given time. Installs and decommissions included. Evaluate network systems and determine the need for patches, upgrades, and analyze future technical needs. Develop and maintain procedures and processes, create documentation, and assist clients and other information technology employees. Train new hires and provide ongoing guidance to fellow analysts. Other duties as assigned and within the scope of the classification.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's or other similar two year technical degree in computer engineering/science, communications/electronic equipment, or related discipline of study AND three to five years of work experience strategic work planning, and conducting the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of equipment and components of a large communications network in addition to performing the analysis of network/electronics equipment and preparing related technical recommendations; three additional years of applicable work experience can be substituted for a degree. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of information technology theory, principles, and practices. Working knowledge of enterprise network devices is also preferred. Network certifications are desired. Knowledge of Wireless Firewalls, Switching, and or Routing on an enterprise scale.
Other: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation. Regular and reliable attendance required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Installing and configuring network equipment. Implementing disaster recovery plans. Knowledge of information technology theory, principles, and practices. Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, local and wide area network systems. Knowledge of client/server network protocols and Internet/Intranet applications. Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting data networks and troubleshooting tools. Skill in delivering responsive, quality customer service. Ability to write clear and concise documentation of systems and procedures. Ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects across an enterprise network. Ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals.
