Hybrid 2 Days Onsite/3 Days Remote in Washington, DC

Our client seeks a Backup Program Manager to support day-to-day program execution for a large federal cybersecurity and operations program. The role will assist the Program Manager with delivery management, staffing coordination, reporting, and risk tracking across multiple technical workstreams including SOC and NOC operations, cybersecurity engineering, and enterprise IT support. The ideal candidate brings experience managing federal IT or cybersecurity programs with strong organizational and communication skills to support governance, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.

Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Rate: $60.00 to $70.00/hr. w2


Responsibilities:
  • Support overall program management activities for a federal IT and cybersecurity program.
  • Coordinate staffing activities including onboarding, resource tracking, and workforce alignment.
  • Track and manage program risks, issues, and mitigation plans.
  • Support deliverable management to ensure quality, timeliness, and contract compliance.
  • Assist with preparation and delivery of weekly and monthly customer reports.
  • Support meeting cadence including internal coordination calls and customer-facing briefings.
  • Maintain program documentation, trackers, and reporting artifacts.
  • Coordinate across technical teams including SOC, NOC, and engineering to ensure alignment and execution.
  • Support communication with government stakeholders including status updates and issue escalation.
  • Assist with performance monitoring, metrics tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience Requirements:
  • 6+ years in federal IT or cybersecurity program management or coordination roles.
  • Hands-on experience with program management support, staffing coordination, and workforce tracking.
  • Proficiency in risk and issue tracking and deliverable management and reporting.
  • Experience supporting customer reporting and meeting cadence.
  • Experience supporting multi-team, multi-workstream programs.
  • Strong understanding of federal program delivery environments.
  • Tools exposure preferred: Jira, Confluence, Power BI, Excel, Tableau, Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, AWS, Azure (M365 G5), Okta, CyberArk, Entra ID and Entra PIM, Device42, Xacta, Appian, Oracle, and hybrid infrastructure contexts.
  • Preferred: experience with federal cybersecurity or SOC and NOC programs, familiarity with FISMA and NIST, Agile or hybrid delivery; certifications such as PMP, CAPM, Scrum Master, or SAFe.
  • Soft skills: strong organization and time management, clear communication and stakeholder engagement, documentation discipline, ability to manage competing priorities.
