WORK OPTION: The NBA currently provides eligible employees the option of working remotely one day per week.
This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed (10) months.
Position Summary:
The Program Coordinator, Local Media Business Operations supports the day-to-day execution of the NBA's Local Media Team Program, serving as the primary coordinator for recurring operational workflows and the League's monthly team billing program.
Reporting to the Business Operations Lead and working closely with the Business Operations Manager, this role partners closely with Business Operations, Broadcast Operations, Finance, vendors, and participating NBA teams to ensure accurate financial management, transparent reporting, and efficient program execution. The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating monthly billing operations, maintaining financial tracking and reporting tools, supporting department operations, and developing standardized processes that improve operational efficiency and program governance.
This position plays a critical role in supporting the NBA's centralized Local Media model by ensuring operational consistency, financial accuracy, and high-quality service delivery across all participating teams.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operational management of the NBA Local Media Team Program, serving as the primary coordinator for recurring workflows, program administration, and monthly team billing operations.
  • Manage the end-to-end monthly team billing process, including receiving, validating, coding, allocating, approving, and processing vendor invoices to ensure accurate and timely bill-back of League program expenses to participating NBA teams.
  • Partner closely with Broadcast Operations Managers, Finance, vendors, and participating teams to validate services rendered, resolve billing discrepancies, ensure financial accuracy, and continuously improve cross-functional workflows.
  • Coordinate monthly billing timelines, approvals, and deliverables while proactively monitoring invoice status, outstanding items, operational risks, and billing exceptions to ensure timely program execution.
  • Maintain Airtable databases, operational trackers, dashboards, and reporting tools supporting the Local Media Team Program, ensuring data accuracy, dashboard functionality, and reporting integrity.
  • Develop recurring executive and team-facing reports that provide visibility into financial performance, budget utilization, historical spend, billing status, forecasts, operational risks, and opportunities.
  • Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, improve reporting, streamline processes, and recommend operational efficiencies across the program.
  • Process department invoices, purchase requests, and expense-related activities while supporting Finance with reconciliation, expense tracking, budget reporting, and other recurring financial operations.
  • Coordinate department travel, league meeting registrations, event credentials, and other operational logistics for employees, consultants, vendors, and business partners.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of department corporate card expenses, ensuring accurate coding, supporting documentation, approvals, and timely submission.
  • Coordinate DocuSign routing and maintain organized repositories for contracts, statements of work, invoices, financial records, billing documentation, and other operational files.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), workflow documentation, process maps, operational playbooks, and other program governance materials.
  • Support onboarding of vendors and participating NBA teams while coordinating recurring operational meetings, documenting action items, monitoring follow-up activities, and fostering strong cross-functional relationships across Business Operations, Broadcast Operations, Finance, Production, Legal, and participating NBA teams.
  • Support special projects, operational initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts as assigned by Business Operations leadership.

Required Education/Professional Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in business operations, program coordination, finance, project management, accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating recurring operational or financial processes preferred.
  • Experience supporting invoice processing, expense management, billing operations, financial reporting, or budget administration preferred.
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with experience performing financial tracking, reconciliation, reporting, and analysis.
  • Experience using Airtable or similar database/project management platforms to maintain operational workflows, dashboards, automations, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, recurring deadlines, and competing priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across multiple departments and stakeholders.
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports, process documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ability to analyze financial information, identify discrepancies, and proactively resolve issues.
  • Strong documentation, records management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management platforms; experience with SAP, Asana, or similar enterprise systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to operational excellence, continuous improvement, customer service, and delivering high-quality support in a fast-paced environment.
