Lead Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Day Shift: 5x8-Hour (07:30 - 16:00)

Job Description

The Lead Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the trauma performance improvement program under the guidance of the Trauma Services Program Director and Trauma Medical Director. This role entails ensuring compliance with the American College of Surgeons standards and managing pediatric readiness for the facility.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and facilitate performance improvement activities, including data collection, analysis, trending, and benchmarking of data outcomes.
  • Review continuum of care for compliance with practice management guidelines, policies, and established standards of care.
  • Maintain the trauma registry database to ensure compliance with regulatory documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate monthly Trauma Systems & Operations Committee and Peer Review meetings.
  • Serve as liaison to clinical areas responsible for trauma patient care.
  • Participate in hospital education programs for nurses and resident physicians caring for trauma patients.
  • Ensure accurate data submission to the National Trauma Data Bank and relevant state trauma registry.
  • Act as the Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC) and oversee pediatric patient care standards in the Emergency Department.
  • Enforce adherence to hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Develop, maintain, and evaluate procedures and protocols for managing pediatric emergency patients.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • 5 years of trauma-related experience required; an Associate's Degree with 10 years of experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's Degree.
  • Registered Nurse (Required)
  • PALS, ACLS, TNCC preferred.
  • Experience with trauma registry management and performance improvement for a level 1 trauma center is essential.
  • Knowledge of ACS standards and verification processes.
