Position Summary

The ROPD Curriculum Developer serves as an Instructional System Specialist responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating range management training and education products for the Range and Training Area Management (RTAM) community. This position applies the Systems Approach to Training and Education (SATE) methodology to support Marine Corps range safety, operations, and management programs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Employ the Systems Approach to Training and Education (SATE) to analyze, design, develop, and evaluate training pertaining to range safety, operations, and management topics and issues, including the development of detailed performance-based testing scenarios that simulate or represent actual job functions as derived from Front End Analyses.

  • Conduct front-end analyses to develop Training and Readiness (T&R) events that define job performance.

  • Conduct learning analyses to generate knowledge, skills, and attitude listings and develop learning objectives that translate job performance to the training environment.

  • Develop training materials including lesson plans, media (slides, graphics, photographs), storyboards, interactive multimedia instruction, test items, performance scenarios, and course schedules.

  • Develop lesson plans consisting of detailed instructor guides that provide all instructional content required for instructors to rehearse and deliver training effectively.

  • Develop slides and instructional materials that may include complex animations simulating computer-based software functionality.

  • Create storyboards consisting of narrative content, descriptions of media and learner interactions, branching logic, and instructions for programmers and graphic artists.

  • Research and develop content and formatting for publications, reference manuals, and pocket guides.

  • Conduct formative and summative evaluations to determine training effectiveness and implementation success, reporting recommended revisions through detailed evaluation reports.

  • Participate in briefings, conferences, and working groups and deliver presentations regarding SATE methodologies and current development efforts.

  • Analyze and identify gaps in existing ROPD range training curricula and determine new tasks and objectives for inclusion in current programs of instruction.

  • Design, develop, and deliver illustrations, animations, and other graphics supporting ROPD-specific development requirements.

  • Develop and edit graphics, digital video, photographs, and other media supporting training products using current graphic design technologies and software applications.

  • Participate in weekly onsite ROPD synchronization meetings and provide reports detailing outcomes and recommended course changes.

  • Recommend adjustments to course development and student deliverables based on End of Course Critiques, After Action Reports, Learning Experience Review Boards, Curriculum Review Boards, or as directed by the COR.

Minimum QualificationsClearance
  • Active Secret security clearance required.

Education
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree required; or

  • High School Diploma with a minimum of four (4) years of RTAM range activities experience.

Experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience utilizing the Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS).

  • Experience supporting military training, curriculum development, instructional systems design, or training management environments is highly desirable.

  • Ideal candidate is a former Marine with Range Control experience.
