Intersect develops, constructs, and operates the most ambitious power and data center infrastructure in the country by co-locating industrial demand with dedicated gas and renewable power generation.

Intersect was acquired by Google in March 2026 and operates as an independent subsidiary. We are developing and constructing multiple gigawatts of energy and data center projects in the U.S., enabling more data center and generation capacity to come online faster. We're on an aggressive growth trajectory and looking for people hungry to tackle the largest energy challenges on the planet.

Location & Team Gatherings

Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016.  We've been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office - we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Austin, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.

We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.

About This Role

As part of Intersect's Technical Operations team, you'll lead the operational performance of a growing portfolio of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) assets across ERCOT. You'll combine technical expertise with operational ownership to maximize asset availability, ensure market readiness, and deliver the data and insights that support commercial performance.

Working across Operations, Engineering, Asset Management, Finance, EPC partners, OEMs, and Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSEs), you'll oversee operational reporting, performance analytics, SCADA data quality, ERCOT compliance, and battery operations. Success means translating complex operational data into actionable insights, resolving technical issues before they impact performance, and continuously improving how Intersect monitors and optimizes its fleet.

Team Overview

The Technical Operations team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect's mission by ensuring our operating fleet performs safely, reliably, and efficiently. Partnering across Engineering, Asset Management, Finance, Construction, and Operations, the team leverages data, technology, and technical expertise to maximize asset performance, improve operational excellence, and support long-term portfolio growth. Joining this team means working on complex technical challenges that directly impact the performance and success of one of the nation's leading clean energy portfolios.

What You'll Do

Lead Operational Performance & Reporting

  • Own the operational performance platform (Power Factors or equivalent), including configuration, data quality, KPI development, event validation, and dashboard administration.

  • Build and continuously improve reporting that provides visibility into fleet performance, asset availability, operational losses, and commercial performance.

  • Validate operational and revenue-grade meter data against settlement and market data to ensure reporting accuracy.

  • Deliver recurring operational reports that support executive leadership, commercial stakeholders, offtakers, and regulatory requirements.

Optimize Fleet Performance

  • Monitor fleet performance using SCADA, operational analytics, and field data to identify performance issues, operational losses, and reliability risks.

  • Analyze solar and battery system performance to improve availability, increase production, and reduce downtime.

  • Lead root cause investigations for performance events and coordinate corrective actions with Operations, Engineering, and OEM partners.

  • Conduct site visits to validate instrumentation, assess plant performance, and support operational readiness.

Support ERCOT Market Operations

  • Manage ERCOT operational requirements, including resource registration, telemetry compliance, seasonal ratings, CDR reporting, and ongoing market readiness.

  • Partner with the Qualified Scheduling Entity (QSE) to ensure assets remain dispatch-ready and capable of supporting energy and ancillary services markets.

  • Coordinate ancillary service qualification and maintenance testing while supporting compliance with ERCOT protocols and market requirements.

  • Lead technical responses to ERCOT requests by analyzing operational data, telemetry, and plant performance.

Drive Battery Energy Storage Performance

  • Monitor battery availability, state of charge, cycling performance, and operational readiness to maximize market participation.

  • Lead technical investigations into battery events and coordinate troubleshooting with OEM partners, including Tesla or comparable providers.

  • Track operational issues that could impact commercial performance, ancillary service participation, or regulatory compliance.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvements that enhance battery reliability and long-term system performance.

Strengthen Operational Systems

  • Develop scalable reporting tools, dashboards, and data pipelines that improve operational visibility across the fleet.

  • Partner with Power Factors and internal stakeholders to enhance analytics, operational loss accounting, event management, and forecasting capabilities.

  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, incident response workflows, and technical documentation that improve consistency and execution.

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, data quality, and reporting efficiency.

Collaborate Across the Business

  • Partner with Engineering, Asset Management, Finance, EPC contractors, OEMs, and Operations teams to support commercial operations and portfolio performance.

  • Support project transitions from construction through commercial operations, including commissioning, operational readiness, and ERCOT Part 3 activities.

  • Coordinate high-priority operational issues across internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely communication and resolution.

  • Provide technical insight that supports forecasting, offtaker reporting, financing activities, and strategic decision-making.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • 5-10 years of experience supporting utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, power generation, or grid operations.

  • Strong knowledge of ERCOT market operations, telemetry, ancillary services, resource registration, and compliance requirements.

  • Experience with SCADA, Energy Management Systems (EMS), historian platforms, and revenue-grade metering systems.

  • Experience configuring or administering Power Factors or a similar asset performance management platform.

  • Proven ability to analyze operational performance, identify root causes, and translate technical data into actionable recommendations.

  • Experience collaborating across Engineering, Operations, Commercial, and external partners to resolve complex technical issues.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • A collaborative, proactive, and continuous improvement mindset that supports cross-functional success.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Tesla Megapack or comparable battery energy storage technologies.

  • Experience with OSIsoft PI or similar historian platforms.

  • Familiarity with weather forecasting, operational loss accounting, and performance analytics.

  • Experience supporting commissioning and commercial operations for utility-scale energy projects.
