The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing regional operations, field execution, project performance, resource planning, and customer relationships across multiple active projects and business lines. This role works closely with Project Management, field leadership, Estimating, Finance, Safety, and Executive Leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Projects may include sewer excavation, underground utility, trenchless rehabilitation, municipal infrastructure, industrial services, and heavy civil construction work. The ideal candidate is a strong operational leader with experience managing crews, coordinating resources, supporting project execution, and building customer relationships in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee daily operations across multiple active projects and crews throughout the region
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, subcontractors, materials, and operational resources
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field leadership to support project execution and scheduling
  • Conduct regular site visits and job walks to monitor production, safety, quality, staffing, and overall project performance
  • Support field teams by resolving operational, staffing, scheduling, and customer-related issues
  • Monitor labor utilization, productivity, equipment usage, and operational performance
  • Assist with workforce planning, crew development, and operational forecasting
  • Support implementation and enforcement of Company safety policies and OSHA requirements
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, municipalities, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Participate in customer meetings, project walkthroughs, pre-bid meetings, and operational planning discussions
  • Support proposal development, staffing plans, budgeting efforts, and project planning activities
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Finance teams to evaluate project performance and operational efficiency
  • Assist leadership with equipment planning, procurement coordination, and resource allocation
  • Support operational growth initiatives and continuous improvement efforts

Qualifications
  • Experience managing construction, underground utility, trenchless rehabilitation, municipal infrastructure, industrial services, or heavy civil construction operations preferred
  • Strong operational leadership and field coordination experience
  • Experience managing multiple crews, projects, and operational priorities
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with construction management and project tracking software preferred

Travel
This is a travel-intensive position supporting operations across multiple job sites and regions. Frequent travel, including extended overnight stays and time spent in the field, is required based on operational and project needs.
