Job description

POSITION: Manufacturing Operations Manager
SHIFT: M-F: 6am to 4:30pm + Saturdays (Hours will vary on business needs)
PAY RATE: $134k to $150k+ DOE + Full Benefits Package
LOCATION: Billings, MT
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Manufacturing Operations Manager holds full responsibility for the operations at their designated TrueNorth Steel location, including managing employees, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and overseeing budgetary concerns.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Embrace and demonstrate the qualities of the TrueNorth Steel Game Changer definition.
  • Support and strive for safety in all areas of the site. This includes resolving safety problems that arise and completing the required paperwork to close actions items.
  • Oversee and review the annual site budget by participating in financial evaluations. This encompasses all site expenses, headcount forecasts, and capital improvements.
  • Actively foster our game changer culture by demonstrating all our key game changer attributes. This approach will cultivate a cohesive, high-performance team and positively influence our site's annual key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Take ownership of end-to-end operational processes, ensuring safety, quality, processes, efficiencies, and profitability metrics are met.
  • Identify, develop, and mentor key individuals in site leadership positions. This involves creating succession plans for various functional areas within your site.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and participate in resolving site Corrective Actions (CA's) and Non-Conformances (NC's) to maintain product quality for internal and external customers.
  • Maintain a high level of production schedule adherence to meet customer commitment dates.
  • Track site product lines KPI's weekly, monthly, and quarterly with help from Product Line Manager and establish your plan to meet, improve, or attain the goals.
  • Participate during all project and/or job completion estimate to actual discussions to improve performance in the future.
  • Collaborate with project management, sales, inventory control, finance, and logistics to address and resolve issues as a team.
  • Work closely with the Finance department to develop consistent cost-cutting measures that translate to increased profit.
  • Host all site readiness meetings to ensure preparedness for all upcoming work at your site.
  • Develop, with the help of Director of Fab & Mfg., a site capital replacement schedule and give guidance on new equipment required to improve throughput.
  • Direct reporting responsibilities for site employees encompass Shop Supervisors, EHS Coordinators/Contacts, Planners/Schedulers, Maintenance employees, and other assigned employees. Indirect reports include the Quality Control Manager, Inventory Control Manager, and Human Resource Business Partner, when applicable.
  • Participate actively in the daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of data collection for timecards, factory track reports, cycle counts, weekly safety inspections and preventative maintenance records.
  • Collaborate with the site Quality Control Manager to ensure that all employees adhere to the facility's QMS processes and procedures.
  • Prompt and dependable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent experience in a related field with extensive experience in manufacturing environment required.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in manufacturing operations, and minimum 5 years in a managerial role managing entire operations and production facilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational profitability through strategic thinking and strong financial acumen.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus.
