Do you want to help us build the DNA of tech? Vishay in Yankton, SD, is currently seeking a full-time Quality Assurance Manager. This position is responsible for establishing and managing a quality management program for a product location involving commercial, automotive, medical, and military products. Assures compliance with internal and external quality standards and procedures. Assists in the development of quality standards and procedures to promote continuous quality improvement. Coordination of responses to customers from the division factories, which typically includes 8-Ds, QA data, reliability information and risk assessments. Involvement in QA improvement plans to reduce recurrence of problems and understanding and interpretation of analytical data and the capability of presenting this directly to customers.
Job Location:
This position is located on-site Yankton, SD. We are situated in Southeast South Dakota: on the banks of the Missouri River and minutes from Lewis and Clark Lake where you can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreational activities.
What you will be doing:
  • Supervises location Quality Inspectors (IDL)/Engineers in the performance of their job duties.
  • Designs and audits a control system that monitors the quality of the product; from design, purchase and test of materials, process control, inspection and testing of the final product; to identify and record exceptions to the specifications desires. Reports exceptions to the appropriate personnel and assists in determining corrective actions.
  • Manages quality management system by audit of costs based upon quality prevention costs, appraisal costs and failure costs.
  • Leads and participates in both internal and external quality audits such as ISO9001, AS9100, ISO13485 and IATF16949
  • Negotiates, when necessary, new customer requirements regarding the details of the administration of the quality program.
  • Establishes and implements the product evaluation plan for production, including inspection methods, sampling plans, quality levels, and defect classification.
  • Initiates programs for documentation and control of the quality procedures and processes of the manufacturing operation.
  • Manage approved vendor list, review supplier PPAPs, and handle supplier discrepancies.
  • Directs and approves the product evaluation plan for the location including inspection methods, sampling plans, feedback information, quality levels and defect classifications.
  • Leads continuous improvement projects in the Quality department to improve process efficiency and accuracy.
  • Initiate's quality-training programs ranging from the emphasis of the importance of quality by direct labor personnel, to technical training for management personnel such as the teaching of statistical process control.
  • Examines customer quotation requests and specifications (quality clauses) to determine whether the Quality System will meet the customer requirements.
  • Audits and analyzes customer complaints and field reports. Identifies causes and responsibilities for corrective action and communicates these to the appropriate personnel.
  • Conducts customer surveys of company facilities regarding the location quality program.
  • Handles quality reporting including customer returns, customer response time, cost of poor quality, MRBs, and others to management as required.
  • Occasional travel to other Vishay facilities to assist in internal audits and to develop standardized procedures.
  • Occasional travel to customers and suppliers to resolve quality issues or perform audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring along:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or BS with emphasis on quality systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to deal effectively with employees at all levels in the organization, as well as outside individuals such as customers, source inspectors, auditors, etc.
  • Must be capable of becoming a certified Internal Auditor for medical, aerospace and automotive.
  • Requires computer skills, including experience with WORD, MINITAB and EXCEL software.
  • Must have an understanding of statistical process control techniques used in manufacturing
  • Two to five years of related experience.
  • Experience with Internal/External ISO 9001:2015 / IATF 16949:2016 / AS9100:2016 preferred but not required.
