Location: Garlock Houston (GSP – Houston, TX)

Reports To: Plant Manager

 

Position Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain, material flow, and site infrastructure at the Houston facility. This role ensures effective coordination from supplier through receiving, warehousing, inventory, and distribution, while enabling production execution without directly managing manufacturing operations.

The Operations Manager provides strategic leadership to procurement, logistics, inventory management, warehouse operations, and facilities/maintenance. The role focuses on improving service levels (OTD), working capital performance, operational efficiency, and supply chain resilience.

This position is a key member of the site leadership team and plays a critical role in aligning supply chain execution with the overall business strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategy
  • Lead procurement, logistics, distribution, and supplier management
  • Drive KPIs (OTD, inventory turns, supplier performance)
  • Identify and mitigate supply risks

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Own inventory strategy and accuracy
  • Implement control processes and cycle counts
  • Balance availability with working capital

Warehouse, Logistics & Distribution

  • Lead receiving, warehousing, and shipping operations
  • Improve material flow and efficiency
  • Standardize processes and ensure compliance

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Develop supplier relationships
  • Lead sourcing strategies and performance management

Facilities & Maintenance

  • Oversee facilities and production maintenance
  • Ensure reliability and preventive maintenance

Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Partner with Manufacturing Manager
  • Support ERP, CI, and capital projects

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead lean initiatives
  • Use data-driven decision-making

Leadership & Team Development

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in supply chain or operations leadership
  • Manufacturing experience required
