SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Provide strategic oversight of daily operations in the assigned department (Welding or Paint), ensuring production goals, safety standards, and quality metrics are consistently met.
  • Lead and mentor supervisors, team leads, and hourly personnel to drive engagement, accountability, and performance.

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, safety, and cost reduction.
  • Ensure proper resource planning, including labor allocation, shift coverage, and material readiness.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and lean operations through training, audits, and compliance enforcement.
  • Assist in budgeting and resource planning for the department, providing input on capital needs and workforce development.
  • Support the onboarding and technical development of new employees and apprentices in skilled trades.
  • Maintain communication with leadership and stakeholders, providing regular updates on progress, challenges, and key initiatives.

EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING

  • Strong knowledge of welding or industrial coating/paint processes, standards, and equipment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing setting.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated success implementing continuous improvement or lean manufacturing practices.
  • Proficient in interpreting fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and work orders.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and production reporting tools.
