Job description

Operations Manager

 

Basic Function: The Operations Manager is responsible for leading field staff and overseeing the day-to-day execution of projects, including staffing, scheduling, materials, customer coordination, and jobsite performance, to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities included but not limited to:     

·         Supervise, hire, evaluate, discipline, and develop field staff.

·         Coordinate project handoff, scheduling, staffing, and startup with Project Managers and the Office Manager.

·         Order materials, manage purchase orders, and ensure projects are properly staged.

·         Monitor daily field operations, productivity, labor hours, and timesheet accuracy.

·         Resolve field, personnel, and customer issues and coordinate change orders with Project Managers.

·         Serve as the primary field contact for customers, superintendents, and project representatives.

·         Monitor job efficiency, estimated versus actual labor hours, and project profitability.

Qualifications/Skills:

·         Strong leadership, supervision, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

·         Knowledge of construction operations, scheduling, materials, jobsite coordination, and staffing.

·         Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

·         Understanding labor efficiency, job costing, budgets, and project profitability.

·         Detail-oriented, organized, and proficient with basic computer, scheduling, and timekeeping systems.

·         Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

 

Education/Experience: 

·         High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, or a related field preferred.

·         5+ years of construction operations or field management experience.

 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described below are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently travel to and move throughout active project sites, which may require walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

The employee must be able to operate a motor vehicle and may be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
