Job description

Overview:

Aether is seeking a senior-level leader to serve as Director of Army Operations and Growth/Capture in the Huntsville, AL region. As a people, operations and growth leader, this individual is responsible for operational execution in Alabama regional markets to include employee development, contract management including profit and loss accountability and leading organic growth and capture and business development strategy. This individual will also serve as deputy to the Army Services Group VP assisting across the Aether's other Army portfolio markets with operations and growth. Responsibility will also include new opportunity capture and bid development in coordination with Army portfolio leadership, corporate Business Development, Growth, Capture and Solution Architect leadership.

This role combines operational oversight leadership, ensuring effective delivery of services and products to clients with organic Army capture and growth efforts and corporate BD/growth efforts. This leader will ensure growth and capture is executable, scalable, and aligned with corporates and Army portfolio leadership near-, mid- and long-term growth strategy. The ideal candidate brings deep Army customer insight and experience, a proven capture record, and the ability to translate growth strategy into disciplined operational results.

Roles/Responsibilities

Operational Execution Leadership

  • Organize and develop leaders and managers, with chain of authority, to execute delivery of services and products while minimizing distraction, and taking care of employees to enable best effective performance.
  • Oversee execution of regional contracts to ensure quality, effective delivery of services and products in accordance with contract performance requirements, schedule and cost terms while ensuring contract profitability.
  • Lead employees to balance work quality with effective and efficient execution of contract services and deliverables ensuring overall profitability of efforts.
  • Oversee recruiting and hiring of the best possible qualified employees and lead employee knowledge, skills and attributes development to ensure effective product and service delivery.
  • Engage employees to develop teamwork and a climate of dedication to achievement of the company's mission, goals/objectives in support of the client and ultimately the warfighter.

Army Growth & Capture Leadership

  • Lead and execute Army-focused organic growth and capture strategy, including pipeline development, opportunity shaping, and bid execution.
  • Identify, qualify, and prioritize Army opportunities across multiple commands, PAEs, CPEs CPMOs, and mission areas.
  • Lead the capture lifecycle for mission aligned and organic growth and coordinate with corporate growth and solution architect leadership for the capture and bid of priority Army and other service group pursuits, from early shaping through proposal submission and award where capabilities align,
  • Develop competitive win strategies, teaming approaches, and pricing inputs in collaboration with executive leadership, growth, operations, and finance.

Operational Alignment & Execution

  • Ensure organic capture strategies are operationally sound and aligned with the Company's delivery capabilities and workforce strategy.
  • Partner closely with operations leadership and teammates to support post-award transition, contract startup, and sustained program execution.
  • Provide input and guidance on organizational structure, staffing models, and scalability to support Army growth objectives.
  • Identify process improvements that strengthen the connection between business development, capture, and program execution.

Customer & Industry Engagement

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with Army customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to enable effective operations and growth.
  • Serve as a senior Army company representative in customer engagements, industry days, and strategic meetings.
  • Monitor Army mission priorities, budget and POM trends, and acquisition strategies to inform growth planning.
  • Contribute to the maturation of the Company's Army BD and capture processes, tools, and governance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering with 15+ years of relevant experience (Master's degree preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in program management, contract management, and execution of service and product delivery with profit and loss responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success growing service-oriented government contracting businesses, with a strong emphasis on Army customers.
  • 6+ years of experience leading or supervising business development, capture, or growth teams.
  • Proven track record of successful Army capture wins and pipeline management, including pursuits of varying size, scope, and contract type.
  • Deep understanding of Army acquisition environments, contracting vehicles, and program offices.
  • Established access to and relationships with multiple Army government customers and industry partners.
