Description
ABOUT OTTINE MINERAL SPRINGS:
Ottine Mineral Springs, nestled beside Palmetto State Park, is a historic treasure renowned for its rich legacy and commitment to health and wellness. Our extraordinary waters are rich in natural minerals and have long been known to promote relaxation, reduce stress and support overall well-being. Today, we carry on this tradition by offering a peaceful retreat where guests can experience the rejuvenating power of these waters in a calming setting that only nature can provide.
POSITION:
SPA MANAGER The Spa Manager leads all spa operations, strategy, and staff development for Ottine Mineral Springs. This role owns the spa's performance end-to-end - guest experience, treatment quality, staffing and licensure compliance, retail and product strategy, and financial results - while partnering with other departments on events and broader guest programming. The ideal candidate brings senior wellness/spa leadership experience, strong business acumen, and a vision for growing the spa alongside the resort.
This position requires some nights, weekends and holidays.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee all spa staff including the Spa Supervisor, LMTs, estheticians, and attendants; set performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching and development.
  • Manage hiring, onboarding, and contractor orientation for therapists to ensure consistent service standards.
  • Own scheduling strategy and staffing models to balance guest demand, labor cost, and therapist workload.
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage disciplinary processes in partnership with HR.
  • Build a culture of hospitality excellence, accountability, and professional growth across the spa team.
  • Hold full accountability for spa operations, ensuring exceptional personalized service from arrival to departure.
  • Serve as the final point of escalation for guest concerns.
  • Set and monitor service standards, treatment protocols, and facility presentation across all spa areas.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, OSHA, state regulations, and all sanitation/licensing requirements.
  • Manage the application and renewal of spa and wellness licenses and certifications.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and facility upkeep, coordinating repairs as needed.
  • Analyze service utilization, guest satisfaction data, and financial performance; identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Collaborate with Retail Curator to lead retail strategy: product selection, merchandizing, and sales performance of the spa boutique.
  • Drive product development - evaluating and introducing new treatments, services, and retail lines aligned with guest demand and industry trends.
  • Build a long-term growth plan for the spa in step with the resort's expansion, including capacity planning, new service lines, and facility needs.
  • Partner with other departments to plan and execute spa involvement in resort events, packages, and promotions.
  • Collaborate with Guest Services on cohesive guest communication, including scheduling, intake, and payment processes.
  • Represent the spa in relevant leadership and cross-functional meetings.
  • Maintain knowledge of resort amenities and offerings to support integrated guest experience.

Due to changing operational demands and the need to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to undertake various functions that are not specifically related to this position. This individual may be required to carry out additional tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Additionally, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and modification.
Requirements
  • Must be available for some nights, weekends and holidays.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Five (5) years of progressive spa/wellness leadership experience, including experience managing Licensed Massage Therapists and multi-role teams, preferably in a luxury or wellness-focused environment.
  • Strong knowledge of spa, yoga and other wellness services including product development and merchandising.
  • Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Spa Booking System and Property Management System).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional guest services skills and a passion for creating memorable experiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and professional communication skills are critical.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high level of patience and customer service.
  • CPR and first aid certification a plus and /or the willingness to be trained.
  • The position requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and procedures, and the capacity to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • The person in this position will need to be comfortable working in an indoor/outdoor use space.
