Operations Manager – Tree Care Services

Ned Patchett Consulting, Inc. (NPC)

Bay Area, CA

About the Role

Ned Patchett Consulting (NPC) is hiring an experienced Operations Manager to lead and grow our tree care services division. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing crews, and ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of pruning, tree removals, plant health care, and all aspects of tree work

We’re looking for a strong leader who can build teams, improve systems, and drive production—while maintaining the level of quality our clients expect.

What You’ll Do

Lead Operations

- Manage daily field operations across multiple crews and job sites

- Oversee scheduling, routing, and logistics

- Ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule

Manage & Develop Crews

- Lead, mentor, and support crew leaders and field staff

- Hire, train, and retain high-performing team members

- Build a culture of accountability, safety, and professionalism

Drive Production & Profitability

- Own production goals, labor efficiency, and job profitability

- Track key metrics (revenue per crew, labor hours, margins)

- Improve workflows to increase output and reduce downtime

Improve Systems

- Develop and refine scheduling and operational processes

- Streamline communication between office and field teams

- Help scale operations as the company grows

Ensure Safety

- Enforce ANSI Z133 and OSHA safety standards

- Lead safety meetings, training, and job site audits

- Oversee safe execution of technical and high-risk work

Support Client Success

- Ensure all work meets NPC’s quality standards

- Address client concerns and maintain strong relationships

- Support estimating and job planning when needed

What We’re Looking For

Required

- 5–10+ years of experience in tree care or arboriculture

- 3+ years in a leadership or operations role

- Strong knowledge of pruning, tree removals, rigging, and safety practices

- Proven ability to manage crews, schedules, and production

- Strong leadership and communication skills

Preferred

- ISA Certified Arborist

- TRAQ certification

- Experience with plant health care programs

- Fluent in Spanish

- Proven experience in working with high-end clientele and estate properties.

Compensation

- $90,000 – $120,000 base salary based on experience

- Performance bonuses based on production, profitability, and safety
