The Operations Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the landscape company's operations across its Maintenance and Tree/Install divisions. This individual will manage all aspects of estimating, project management, business development, and client relationship management to ensure operational efficiency, profitability, and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with extensive knowledge of landscape operations, a strategic approach to project management, and a passion for growing the business.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Estimating and Proposal Development
    • Lead the estimationprocess, analyzing project requirements, materials, labor, and equipmentto develop accurate, competitive bids.
    • Develop proposals andpresentations for prospective clients, ensuring alignment with companystandards and client expectations.
    • Maintain and refine theestimation database and cost-tracking systems to ensure up-to-date andaccurate pricing.
  2. Project Management
    • Coordinate projectschedules and manage resource allocation across both Maintenance andTree/Install divisions.
    • Monitor project progress,conducting regular site visits to evaluate quality, adherence totimelines, and client satisfaction.
    • Resolve any operationalchallenges, working collaboratively with division managers and team leadsto ensure a smooth workflow.
  3. Client Relationship Management and Business Development
    • Develop and maintainstrong relationships with key clients,ensuring high levels of satisfaction and promoting repeat business.
    • Actively network withinthe community and participate in relevant business organizations toincrease visibility and build relationships.
    • Identify and pursue newbusiness opportunities, focusing on expanding the company's client baseand securing long-term maintenance contracts.
    • Collaboratewith the leadership team to develop strategic initiatives and marketingplans to enhance company visibility and brand.

  1. Operational Leadership
    • Develop and implementstandard operating procedures (SOPs) across divisions to streamlineoperations and improve efficiency.
    • Lead, mentor, andmotivate team members to achieve high performance and professionalgrowth.
    • Conduct regularperformance reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain aculture of continuous improvement.
    • Ensure compliance withsafety regulations, quality standards, and environmental guidelinesacross all operations.
  2. Financial Management
    • Collaborate with thefinance department to develop and manage budgets, monitor costs, andanalyze financial performance for each project.
    • Identify cost-savingopportunities and implement best practices to improve profitability.
    • Preparereports for senior management on project progress, financial performance,and operational metrics as requested.

Requirements
• Landscape Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in operations management within the landscaping and construction/ maintenance industry.
• Strong background in project management, estimating, business development, and client relationship management.
• Extensive experience in managing successful departments and operational financial performance.
• Experience in business development and account acquisitions.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships and network effectively within business communities to develop new business.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Aspire or the like, (ERP, CRM etc.).
