The Production Supervisor is a hands-on leader who creates an environment where people, safety, quality, and performance thrive. By coaching and developing Chemical Operators, executing the production schedule, and promoting operational excellence, this role helps ensure pharmaceutical products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in compliance with cGMP requirements. Working closely with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams, the Production Supervisor removes barriers, solves problems, and drives continuous improvement while delivering exceptional results for our customers.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop Chemical Operators by establishing clear performance expectations, providing ongoing feedback, recognizing strong performance, and addressing performance concerns in a timely manner.
- Schedule employee work assignments, overtime, vacation coverage, and staffing to support production requirements while maintaining accurate employee time records.
- Train, coach, and develop Chemical Operators and Pilot Plant Technicians on manufacturing processes, equipment operation, batch documentation, SOPs, safety requirements, change control, and Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Evaluate training effectiveness and ensure employees remain current on procedural, equipment, and regulatory changes.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, engagement, and continuous learning.
Production Operations
- Lead daily manufacturing activities to safely and efficiently execute the production schedule while meeting quality, delivery, and business objectives.
- Monitor plant conditions and operator performance to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
- Utilize manufacturing systems to support work order management, production scheduling, raw material coordination, inventory transactions, and operational reporting.
- Communicate production status, operational risks, staffing concerns, and production priorities to Production Management and cross-functional partners.
- Review batch records and production documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Provide coaching and retraining to improve documentation quality and Right First Time execution.
- Initiate, review, and support Management of Change (MOC), deviations, corrective actions, and other quality system documentation as required.
- Promote a culture of quality by reinforcing compliance expectations and promptly addressing issues that could impact product quality or regulatory compliance.
Safety, Environmental & Emergency Response
- Promote and enforce compliance with all environmental, health, safety, Process Safety Management (PSM), and site safety requirements.
- Identify and address unsafe conditions or behaviors while promoting proactive risk identification and hazard mitigation.
- Issue hot work permits, confined space entry permits, and other required permits in accordance with site procedures.
- Support hazardous waste management activities in accordance with applicable environmental regulations. This may include making waste determinations, waste profiling with TSDFs, labeling hazardous waste containers, conducting container inspections, and supporting spill response and emergency activities in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Serve as Incident Commander, as defined in the site's Emergency Response Plan, during emergency situations and ensure appropriate internal and external notifications are completed.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Troubleshoot manufacturing, equipment, and operational issues while partnering with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and other departments to minimize downtime and improve operational performance.
- Investigate production deviations, equipment failures, safety incidents, and out-of-specification events using structured root cause analysis.
- Implement and support corrective and preventive actions that improve safety, quality, compliance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement opportunities that enhance productivity, reduce waste, improve Right First Time performance, and strengthen manufacturing processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Planning, Warehouse, and other departments to coordinate production activities and resolve operational challenges.
- Communicate effectively across shifts to ensure continuity of operations and timely resolution of issues.
- Support site initiatives, organizational changes, and operational improvement projects through active collaboration and leadership.
Quality is something we take pride in together. You'll perform your work in alignment with cGMP requirements and Curia's standards to ensure our facilities support the safe and reliable manufacture of products for our customers.
- Perform all documentation in compliance with ALCOA++ principles and site SOPs.
- Adhere to applicable cGMP documents including SOPs, batch records, protocols, change controls, and controlled forms.
- Keep all required cGMP training current and escalate quality concerns along with proposed solutions to the Quality department.
Required
- A minimum of a high school education or equivalent
- A minimum of five years of experience in industrial operations
- Proven leadership experience overseeing employees
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Ability to work a 12 hour shift and cover shifts when needed due to shift vacancies
- Strong knowledge and implementation of Compliance Management - cGMP, technical operations, and quality systems within a pharmaceutical manufacturing site.
- Proficient in the use of MS Outlook, Excel, Power Point
Preferred
- FDA, EPA, and OSHA regulated chemicals manufacturing highly preferred
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, food, or other cGMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with SAP, Factory Talk/Process Control Systems, AIMS, and other software to assist in day-to-day activities

- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
- Frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, and climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
- Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this role.
- Regular work in a standard office environment, with frequent entry into the production area of a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
- Production environment may include moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, wet or humid conditions, low levels of toxic or caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions.
- Noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
