Description of Work
The Business & Operations Manager serves as the Chief Business Officer and a senior leader in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. This position oversees all non-academic college staff and operations including budgeting, financial reporting and analysis, all business operations, all marketing and communications, undergraduate recruiting, student services and technology services in the college. The individual in this role works collaboratively with the college's faculty and staff, key partners on Campus including Chief Academic Business Officers (CABO), the Office of Business and Finance, University Admissions, University Communications and Information Technology Services, and the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor in furtherance of the college's mission and vision.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field and five (5) years' experience in any combination of accounting, grants/contracts, financial or business management.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of large integrated financial management systems.
  • Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Working knowledge of grants/contracts, accounting, budgeting, personnel and payroll practices.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education setting.
  • Experience in supervisory role.
  • Experience with SAP, PeopleSoft, PeopleAdmin, and myRed.
  • Knowledge of Journalism and Mass Communications programs and/or profession.
