Job description

Research Assistant II The Research Assistant II supports scientific discovery within the Experimental Therapeutics department by coordinating and conducting experiments that advance basic science research. The Research Assistant II contributes to the design and execution of research projects while supporting laboratory operations essential to experimental success. This role operates in a collaborative research environment focused on advancing therapeutic strategies.

The Research Assistant II role is part of MD Anderson Cancer Center, a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Research Assistant II works alongside scientists and research staff to support innovative research efforts aligned with the institution's mission to end cancer through impactful science. The ideal candidate for the Research Assistant II role demonstrates foundational education and experience in scientific research, with the ability to support laboratory-based experiments, manage research-related data, and assist with equipment and supply needs.

In the absence of preferred qualifications, the minimum requirements for education, work experience, and certifications apply as reference for this position. Salary Range Minimum Salary: $45,000 Salary Midpoint: $56,500 Salary Maximum: $68,000 Why Us. Responsibilities Coordinate and conduct experiments supporting basic science research initiatives Carry out assigned research projects across varied areas of basic science Construct, assemble, and operate laboratory apparatus and equipment Prepare laboratory supply orders to maintain adequate inventory Initiate routine laboratory equipment maintenance requests Maintain a well-stocked and operational laboratory environment Record, organize, and evaluate experimental and research data Review professional and scientific literature relevant to assigned research Consult with peers and supervisors to develop new or improved research procedures Support continuous improvement of research methodologies within the laboratory EDUCATION Required: Bachelor's Degree Basic Science.

Preferred: Master's Degree Basic Science. Preferred: Medical Degree WORK EXPERIENCE Required: One year Scientific or experimental research work experience or No experience required with preferred degree.
