Position Summary

The Operations Director leads all construction operations, including horizontal drilling, civil/dirt work, splicing, and locating. This role is responsible for managing projects from award through completion while ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and profitability.

The Operations Director oversees Supervisors, Foremen, crews, equipment, scheduling, and project execution to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.


Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management
  • Review awarded projects and lead pre-construction planning.

  • Coordinate permits, utility locates, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and schedules.

  • Manage construction operations from startup to completion.

  • Conduct project handoff meetings with Supervisors and crews.

  • Monitor project progress, labor productivity, quality, and profitability.

  • Ensure accurate project documentation, reporting, and billing support.

  • Maintain strong customer communication and satisfaction.

  • Verify completed work and support project closeout activities.


Operations Management
  • Oversee daily field operations, manpower, and equipment usage.

  • Partner with the Fleet Manager to maintain equipment readiness and utilization.

  • Perform QA/QC and safety inspections.

  • Improve operational processes, scheduling, and workflows.

  • Forecast manpower, equipment, and operational needs.

  • Ensure company safety and operational standards are followed.


Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Supervisors, Foremen, and field teams.

  • Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and professionalism.

  • Support hiring, training, and employee development.

  • Address performance and operational issues proactively.


Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in horizontal drilling/construction operations.

  • Strong leadership and project management experience.

  • Knowledge of construction operations, scheduling, safety, and budgeting.
