Position Overview

The Operations Director will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for the strategic direction, operational excellence, and financial performance of all regional territories. This role shifts focus from localized branch supervision to high-level system optimization, scalable process implementation, and long-term P&L management. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of scaling service-based businesses, developing high-performing management teams.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Alignment

  • Define the regional operational strategy in alignment with overall corporate growth objectives.
  • Mentor, develop, and hold accountable Branch Managers and regional leadership teams.
  • Establish succession planning frameworks to build a robust pipeline of future company leaders.
  • Cultivate an enterprise-wide culture focused on safety, accountability, execution, and top-tier customer satisfaction.


Operational Excellence & Scaling

  • Standardize and optimize multi-branch operational processes and including routing efficiency.
  • Leverage data analytics and performance metrics to identify operational bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Financial & P&L Management

  • Hold full accountability for the region’s operational budget, profit margins, and capital expenditure.
  • Analyze regional financial reports and KPIs to drive revenue growth and aggressive cost-control measures.

Customer Experience & Retention Strategy

  • Execute high-level customer retention strategies across all markets.
  • Monitor regional service quality trends to ensure the Weed Man brand standard is consistently exceeded.

Compliance, Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure all regional operations strictly adhere to local, state, and federal regulations (EPA, OSHA, Department of Agriculture, etc.).
  • Oversee safety training programs across all branches.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Horticulture, or On-Job Experience
  • Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive management experience, with at least 3 years explicitly in a multi-unit, regional, or director-level operations role within the service or green industry.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading scale operations and managing multi-tiered teams (managing managers).


  • Skills: Exceptional organizational, communication, and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Requirements: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; willingness to travel regionally across Central Illinois, Indiana and Michigan as required.
