Job description

PURPOSE OF THE CLASSIFICATION:

To work as support personnel in the indoor and outdoor areas of the Papilion at Honor Heights Park for the City of Muskogee, Parks and Recreation Department. This is a temporary seasonal position. Applicants must be available for day, night, weekend, some holiday shifts, and irregular hours.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

  • Greet visitors. Communicate with the public in a polite, friendly manner.
  • Operate telephone to answer, screen and forward calls and provide information as necessary.
  • Conduct tours of the facility.
  • Have a working knowledge, and assist with facility programs and rentals.
  • Operate Point of Sales (POS) operating system.
  • Prepare daily deposits for supervisor review.
  • Receive and restock merchandise as needed, and assist with inventory control.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean facility and grounds.
  • Complete opening and closing tasks including cleaning restrooms, and picking up trash.
  • Assist with facility rental set-up/clean up.
  • Participate in preparing chrysalises for butterfly house.
  • Maintains and cares for gardens and landscapes, including tasks like planting, watering, and pruning.
  • Maintains flowerbeds, borders, and other plant areas, including mulching and raking leaves.
  • Assists guests with admission charges, gift shop purchases, venue program/rentals, and facility related questions.
  • Performs other work as necessary or as assigned.
  • Must report to work on a regular and timely basis.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Papilion Support Personnel reports directly to the Papilion Operations Manager and the Papilion Operations Assistant Manager.

Papilion Support Personnel do not have any direct reports or supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and Experience: Must be at least 16 years of age. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to communicate in a positive, friendly manner and have a willingness to learn and implement customer service skills with the general public.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Exposure to wet, hot, cold and/or humid conditions. Requires ability to work days, nights, weekends, holidays and irregular hours.
