Job description

Originally built in 1959 and completely renovated in 2022, the South Wind Motel is a 22-room vintage boutique motel located in the historic German Village neighborhood. We are family run, locally sourced, and sustainably operated. We’re looking for a customer-focused individual to join our team to help us provide a top-tier experience for our guests.

Qualifications:

  • Basic computer skills and comfortable with new technology platforms
  • Possession of a smart phone and ability to download apps needed for work.
  • Weekend availability
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Columbus and the German Village / Brewery District neighborhoods
  • Previous customer service or hospitality experience is not necessary, but is a plus!

Job duties include:

  • Greet guests and visitors at the front desk.
  • Utilize the online, cloud-based booking platform to keep track of current and upcoming reservations, and make changes as needed.
  • Answer phone calls and text messages through Google Voice app
  • Respond promptly to text messages messages from current guests using a communication app.
  • Assist current guests with requests, questions, and concerns, both in person and via phone/text.
  • Assist prospective guests and future guests with questions related to pricing, booking availability, location, cancellations, check-in times, etc.
  • Communicate daily cleaning needs to housekeeping staff and delegate priorities
  • Inspect rooms prior to guest arrival; add any finishing touches and re-stock amenities as needed to meet motel standards.
  • Keep the front desk, motel office and staff rooms organized.
  • Provide guest services (ie. restaurant recommendations, directions, etc.)
  • Relay messages to management/ownership as needed.
  • Use the online, integrated smart-lock system to ensure guest access at the appropriate times
  • Maintain a clean and pleasing building exterior (landscaping, trash pick up, etc.)
  • Complete deep cleaning tasks in guest rooms and around the property to ensure a clean and comfortable stay for each guest
  • “On call” nights (12 hour shift 7:00pm - 7:00am) to respond if needed to occasional in-house guest questions & issues remotely using text and phone communication platforms.
