Echodyne is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join our fast-growing team.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to manage, secure, and continuously improve our Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.
This role will be responsible for the reliability, security, performance, and operational effectiveness of our cloud and enterprise IT infrastructure. The successful candidate will bring strong hands-on administration skills across Microsoft 365 (M365), Azure, AWS, identity and access management, endpoint management, networking, automation, monitoring, and security.
The Senior Systems Administrator will also serve as a senior technical resource for the IT team, leading complex troubleshooting, infrastructure improvements, migrations, and cloud initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Microsoft 365 Administration
  • Administer and support the Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and related services.
  • Manage users, groups, licenses, mailboxes, distribution lists, shared mailboxes, and service configurations.
  • Manage Microsoft 365 security, compliance, retention, and data protection configurations.
  • Troubleshoot complex Microsoft 365 service, authentication, mail flow, and collaboration issues.
  • Monitor M365 service health, security alerts, and administrative changes.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell automation for Microsoft 365 administration.
Microsoft Azure
  • Administer and support Azure infrastructure and services, including virtual machines, storage, networking, backup, monitoring, and security.
  • Manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), including users, groups, enterprise applications, Conditional Access, MFA, and role-based access control.
  • Manage hybrid identity environments and integrations between on-premises systems, Microsoft 365, and Azure.
  • Design and maintain Azure networking, including VNets, subnets, VPNs, routing, DNS, and network security groups.
  • Implement monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
  • Review Azure workloads for reliability, security, performance, and cost optimization.
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Administer and support AWS workloads and infrastructure.
  • Manage services such as EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, Route 53, CloudWatch, AWS Backup, and related services.
  • Configure and maintain AWS identity, permissions, roles, and security policies using least-privilege principles.
  • Manage networking and connectivity between AWS, Azure, corporate networks, and other environments.
  • Monitor AWS infrastructure for availability, performance, security, and cost.
  • Support cloud migrations and deployment of new AWS workloads.
Systems, Infrastructure & Operations
  • Administer Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related infrastructure.
  • Manage virtualization and cloud-hosted server environments.
  • Manage endpoint configuration and security using tools such as Microsoft Intune.
  • Maintain system patching, vulnerability remediation, backup, and recovery processes.
  • Monitor infrastructure availability and proactively identify reliability or performance issues.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex infrastructure incidents.
  • Participate in incident response and disaster recovery activities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and runbooks.
  • Work with vendors and technology partners to resolve technical issues and implement new capabilities.
Security Responsibilities
  • Apply security best practices across Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, endpoints, and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain MFA, Conditional Access, RBAC, least-privilege access, and privileged account controls.
  • Review security alerts, audit logs, authentication activity, and infrastructure events.
  • Partner with security teams to remediate vulnerabilities and improve the organization's overall security posture.
  • Support security audits, compliance activities, and evidence collection.
  • Assist with investigation and response to security incidents.
Automation & Continuous Improvement
  • Automate repetitive administrative tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, AWS CLI, or other scripting and automation technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop standardized deployment and configuration processes.
  • Where appropriate, implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using technologies such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Bicep.
  • Establish monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards for critical infrastructure.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, cloud operations, or a comparable technical role.
  • Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Hands-on experience administering production workloads in AWS.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory.
  • Experience with identity and access management, MFA, Conditional Access, and RBAC.
  • Experience with cloud and enterprise networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, routing, and firewalls.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
  • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Strong understanding of cloud and enterprise security best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems across multiple systems and cloud platforms.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience managing hybrid or multi-cloud environments spanning Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune and modern endpoint management.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management.
  • Experience implementing cloud governance, security baselines, and cost optimization.
  • Experience working in security-conscious or regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with Linux administration.
  • Relevant certifications such as:
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
    • Microsoft 365 Administrator

SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE
The successful Senior Systems Administrator will be able to take ownership of complex infrastructure environments, independently resolve challenging technical issues, and balance day-to-day operational responsibilities with longer-term infrastructure improvements.
They will be equally comfortable troubleshooting a Microsoft 365 authentication problem, administering an Azure workload, investigating an AWS infrastructure issue, automating a repetitive process with PowerShell, and recommending improvements to the organization's security and cloud architecture.

The expected annual salary range for this role is
$124,733-$187,048 USD
