Summary

The Senior Accountant requires an accurate, reserved, imaginative personality that seeks a high level of technical expertise. The responsibilities cover a range of accounting and finance procedures and functions as they relate to GAAP. The position will assist in correspondence, data entry, and record keeping while taking the time to get to know the staff. Additionally, the role reviews data for accuracy, compliance, and discrepancies while providing consistent quality service with sincerity and discipline. They will provide support to accounts payable and payroll administration. As such, achievements will depend on multitasking, working independently, strong customer service, and computer skills. The focus of this job is on producing high-quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines, and procedures. Consistent work output is essential, requiring patience and a willingness to handle and complete one task at a time. Consistent, error-free work based on defined regulations and standards are key measures of job performance success.

Responsibilities

Assist the Controller and CFO with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting Department

Implement and develop accounting procedures by analyzing current operations and recommending changes

Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid expenses

Record and verify all transactions related to the Accounts Payable process

Prepare and analyze monthly budget/forecast to actual variance reports by department

Assist in payroll administration, filing, union reporting, and certified payroll

Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data

Prepare and remit monthly Workers Comp Insurance

Prepare and remit monthly State Gross Receipts Tax

Prepare reports for payroll to complete State and Federal reports on a quarterly basis

Develop and maintain accounting processes and procedures to improve efficiency

Superior oral and written communication, along with analytical abilities

Must have the ability to prioritize, multitask, delegate appropriate tasks, and forecast internal/external financial variables

Knowledge in GAAP, finance and budgeting, strategic planning, operational management, and mitigation strategies

Physical demands include long hours sitting, using a computer, standing, pulling/pushing, walking, lifting, and climbing

The job requires intermediate computer proficiency and advanced critical thinking skills

Other duties, activities, and responsibilities may vary and change as assigned

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

Relevant work experience (4+ years) may substitute for the degree

3+ Years of Accounting or Finance experience required
